The international photography festival of Lille, between still and moving images
Transphotographiques is an international photography festival organized annually in Lille by the Maison de la Photographie since 2001. From mid-May to mid-June, the festival offers a thematic selection of exhibitions in the major heritage sites of the metropolis: Tri Postal, Palais Rameau, Maisons Folies, Vieille Bourse, and Palais Rihour. Transphotographiques creates a dialogue between still and moving images through photography, video, and cinema, offering a program of exhibitions, screenings, debates, and photo workshops.
Transphotographiques is an international photography festival created in 2001 by the Maison de la Photographie in Lille, itself founded in 1997. Located in the Fives district, the Maison de la Photographie is the cultural driving force behind this annual event that highlights contemporary photographic creation in Europe and worldwide.
Each year, from mid-May to mid-June, the festival offers a thematic selection of exhibitions in the most beautiful heritage sites of the Lille metropolis: the Tri Postal, the Palais Rameau, the Maisons Folies, the Vieille Bourse, the Palais Rihour, the Hôtel de Ville, the Lille Cathedral, the Saint-Maurice Church, and the Musée de l'Hospice Comtesse. These exceptional venues become showcases for contemporary photography.
The unique feature of Transphotographiques is its dialogue between still and moving images. The festival blends photography, video, and sometimes cinema, offering a cross-perspective on different forms of contemporary imagery. This transversal approach, which gives the festival its name, enriches the understanding and appreciation of each exhibited work.
The festival gives a privileged place to young European photographic creation, fostering exchanges with international galleries and festivals. Emerging photographers mingle with established artists, offering a vibrant panorama of contemporary photographic creation.
Beyond exhibitions, Transphotographiques offers screenings, debates, artist encounters, photo workshops, and awareness-raising activities for all audiences, throughout the Nord region and the Euro-Region. The festival is chaired by Bertrand de Talhouët and directed by Olivier Spillebout, in partnership with Photo magazine.
Transphotographiques returns from mid-May to mid-June 2026 in the heritage sites of the Lille metropolis for a new edition of the international photography festival.
