The little sister of the Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale

The Vente des Vins des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges is Burgundy's second major wine auction, often presented as the "little sister" of the famous Vente des Hospices de Beaune. Launched on March 13, 1961, it is held every second weekend of March at the Château du Clos de Vougeot, a historic site in Burgundy's wine heritage. However, the first Hospices wine sales date back to 1938, during an economic crisis when wines were struggling to sell.

An exceptional wine estate

The Domaine viticole des Hospices de Nuits-Saint-Georges offers 18 different cuvées from exceptional plots, including several Premiers Crus from the Côte de Nuits. Over the centuries, the Hospices have benefited from donations of vines, the proceeds from which help finance medical and wine-related infrastructure. All funds from the sale are returned to the hospital structure, with the exception of the proceeds from the President's barrel — the last and most anticipated barrel sold — whose profits are donated to a charitable cause represented by a personality.

The Château du Clos de Vougeot, a prestigious setting

The auction takes place in the majestic setting of the Château du Clos de Vougeot, home of the Confrérie des Chevaliers du Tastevin.
