Ska, punk and rock'n'roll festival in Boussay
Zik'N Roll is a ska, punk, and rock'n'roll festival founded in 2019 in Boussay, Loire-Atlantique. Driven by a passionate association, it showcases local and international artists rarely programmed in the region. Each edition features two nights of concerts blending ska, punk, psychobilly, and rockabilly in a friendly and festive atmosphere, in the heart of the Nantes vineyard.
Created in 2019 by the association Zik'N Roll, chaired by Samuel Audureau, this festival was born from the desire to introduce artists from the ska, punk, and psychobilly scene who rarely perform in the Nantes region. Located in Boussay, a town in southern Loire-Atlantique nestled in the Nantes vineyard, the festival has quickly rallied a loyal audience around simple values: music, conviviality, and good cheer.
Zik'N Roll unfolds over two evenings, bringing together around seven bands — three on Friday and four on Saturday — in a human-scale format that prioritizes proximity between artists and the audience. The programming alternates between international headliners and local discoveries, covering a spectrum from traditional ska to street punk, including psychobilly, rockabilly, and skacore.
Over the years, the festival has hosted iconic bands such as Los Fastidios (Italian street punk), The Hotknives (English ska), King Prawn (British ska-punk), Skarface, Bob's Not Dead, Long Tall Texans (psychobilly), The Mercenaries, Heads Up, Les Vilains Clowns, Dakka Skanks, and Black Rooster Orchestra.
Organized by volunteers, Zik'N Roll embodies the spirit of small independent festivals that keep the alternative music scene alive in rural areas. The association also organizes Zik'N Groll, a musical hike, thus extending its cultural commitment beyond the festival. The event is usually held at the salle omnisports de Boussay, offering an intimate setting conducive to energetic concerts and fraternal mosh pits.
