Festivals and Events in Brittany, August 8-9, 2026: Lorient's Interceltic Finale

From the Interceltic Festival's grand finale in Lorient to La Fête du Bruit in Landerneau, here are twelve events and festivals to catch in Brittany this weekend.

Brittany doesn't run short of festivals and events for the weekend of August 8-9, 2026 (8-9/08): ten days of fest-noz wrap up in Lorient just as a dozen other events kick off across the region's four departments. Our pick goes to the Interceltic Festival's grand finale, but the lineup also covers a nocturnal sound-and-light show, an electro peninsula and a horse fair founded in 1936 near Loudéac. Between a Celtic mega-gathering, island opera and countryside fest-noz, this weekend in Brittany won't leave you bored. Stade du Moustoir or the open-air galleries of La Gacilly — where do you start?

The grand finale closing ten days of celebration

Interceltic Festival of Lorient: the last weekend of a record edition

Founded in 1971, the Interceltic Festival of Lorient brings together all eight Celtic nations every summer: Brittany, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, the Isle of Man, Galicia and Asturias. The 2026 edition runs from July 31 to August 9 at the Stade du Moustoir, with more than 300 shows spanning music, dance, film and talks. Close to 950,000 visitors are expected over the full ten days, and August 8-9 covers the closing weekend.

Festival Photo La Gacilly: Europe's largest open-air photo gallery

Launched in 2004 by Jacques Rocher, Festival Photo La Gacilly claims the title of Europe's biggest open-air photography festival. Until October 4, around thirty monumental exhibitions fill the streets, squares and gardens of this Morbihan village, mixing fine-art photography, photojournalism and reportage. Peak summer weekends like August 8-9 are prime time to walk it, with over 300,000 visitors expected across the season.

La Fête du Bruit dans Landerneau: three nights in the Jardins de la Palud

Rock, electro, rap, reggae and French chanson share the bill from August 7 to 9 in the Jardins de la Palud, on the banks of the Élorn in Landerneau. Founded in 2009, this human-scale festival now draws more than 50,000 festivalgoers a year across its three full days.

Open-air spectacle and heritage stages

Le Roi Arthur at Meneham: a bilingual spectacle on a listed site

Written and directed by Goulc'han Kervella, Le Roi Arthur is performed by the Ar Vro Bagan company on the remarkable site of Meneham, in Kerlouan. This French-Breton bilingual show retraces King Arthur's exploits through special effects, dance, combat and fantastical creatures, with its final two performances on August 8 and 9.

Lyrique en Mer: two weeks of opera on the island of Belle-Île

Founded in 1998 by artistic director David Jackson, Lyrique en Mer brings opera, sacred music and recitals to the Salle Arletty and the churches of Belle-Île-en-Mer through August 14. The August 8-9 weekend sits right in the middle of this island season.

Sacred Music Festival of Saint-Malo: closing weekend under the cathedral vaults

The Sacred Music Festival of Saint-Malo wraps up its season on August 9, inside the Cathédrale Saint-Vincent and the churches of the walled city. The repertoire spans centuries, from baroque to contemporary sacred works.

Independent music, from reggae to electro

No Logo BZH: a sponsor-free festival near Saint-Malo

Inspired by Naomi Klein's essay No Logo, No Logo BZH runs entirely without subsidies or sponsors. From August 7 to 9, the Fort de Saint-Père, in Saint-Père-Marc-en-Poulet near Saint-Malo, hosts reggae, roots, dub, dancehall and world music. Solidarity, tolerance, peace and freedom remain its founding values.

Écume Festival: electro against Quiberon's wild coastline

Organized since 2022 by Les Électros de Quiberon, Écume Festival turns the Stade Roger Boutet in Saint-Pierre-Quiberon into an open-air dancefloor on August 7 and 8. House, chill electro and melodic electro play just 200 meters from the protected dunes of Gâvres-Quiberon.

Tradition and local heritage

Festival du Menez-Hom: Breton tradition since 1959

Created in 1959 in Plomodiern, the Festival du Menez-Hom ranks among the oldest festivals of Breton culture. Bagad and Celtic circle parades, fest-noz, painting and sculpture exhibitions fill the town center through August 15, with the 8-9 weekend landing in the festival's second week.

Fête des Menhirs de Languidic: three days among the Gauls

At the Kersolan site, the Fête des Menhirs plunges visitors into Gaulish life from August 8 to 10. Traditional games, historical reenactments, concerts, a craft market and Breton bowls competitions make up three days of family festivities, first launched in the early 1970s.

Two picks off the beaten path

Son et Lumière de Bon-Repos: the season's last night

In front of the Abbaye de Bon-Repos, more than 350 performers and 30 riders have staged a nocturnal historical spectacle for over 35 years, on an 8,000 m² stage with monumental projections and fireworks across two hours. The show plays its very last date on August 8.

Fête du Cheval de Loudéac: 220 draft horses for one Sunday

Organized since 1936 by the Société Hippique Rurale de Loudéac, the Fête du Cheval gathers close to 220 horses and thirty teams at the racecourse on August 9. Parades, competitions and draft-horse demonstrations sum up Brittany's bond with its native breed in a single day.

Twelve events, four departments, not one town repeated twice: that's this weekend's map across Brittany for August 8-9, 2026. For more ideas region by region, check the weekend agenda.
