The Marathon Vert de Rennes, Saturday evening and Sunday morning
The Marathon Vert de Rennes runs over two days, on Saturday 10/17/2026 in the evening, then on Sunday morning. Several thousand runners set off on a course that is 100% urban.
The programme includes the 42.195 km marathon, the marathon relay for teams of four, the marathon in pairs, a night 10 km, a women's 5 km race and a family walk. The start is at the Mail François-Mitterrand, the finish on the Esplanade Charles-de-Gaulle, at the end of a course known for being very fast. The race is certified, open to seasoned marathoners as much as to occasional runners and families.
Two kilometres run, one tree planted.
That is the race's pledge for 2026, made with the Fondation Yves Rocher. Over fourteen editions, the event has helped plant more than 1.7 million trees.
Registration is online only. Timed races require an FFA licence, a medical certificate or a PPS, and the number of participants is capped: places in the headline races go fast. Rennes accommodation books early, as demand is high the weekend of the race.
From Saint-Brieuc rock to Brest jazz
In Saint-Brieuc, Colors of Korea brings South Korean culture to Hall 1B of the Palais des Congrès et des Expositions de la Baie: concerts, K-pop dance, craft workshops, food and guests from Korea, with food trucks and a cloakroom on site. The venue is a few minutes on foot from the station. Part of the proceeds funds a trip to South Korea for sick children. In the same town, Carnavalorock, born in 1990 and relaunched in 2017, closes its two evenings of rock, punk and ska at the Salle de Robien on Saturday, October 17, ten minutes on foot from the station, with a one-day pass at around 30 to 37 euros.
Gymnase Thalassa, in Erquy. Erquy en bulles gathers comic book fans around signings and meetings with Breton authors, run by an association that has organised it since 2020. In Lancieux, the Lancieux Podcast Festival, run by the town hall since 2024, offers group listening sessions for children and adults alike.
Rennes keeps two more events. Dangereuses Lectrices brings lectures, round tables, workshops and book signings around feminist writing to the Antipode. Escales Africaines blends concerts, DJ sets, shows, literature and visual arts around contemporary African cultures, from the Théâtre du Vieux Saint-Étienne to the UBU, and its closing day in Villejean is free, with open access from 2 p.m., and ticketing goes through HelloAsso.
In Trébeurden, the Marine Worlds Film and Image Festival runs until Sunday the 18th with a contest of underwater films and photographs, filmed talks, a show and a concert. In Brest, the Atlantique Jazz Festival, organised since 2004 by the Penn ar Jazz association, ends on Saturday the 17th: contemporary jazz and improvised music between the Espace Vauban, La Carène, Le Quartz and La Maison du Théâtre. The prices announced are presale prices, with 2 euros more on site.
Around the Rennes course, traffic restrictions apply on race day, hence the advice to take the metro or the STAR network buses.
