The autumn regatta of Cap Corse

A Sfida Capicursina is a sailing competition organised every autumn by the Club Nautique de Macinaggio. Over three days it sends windsurfers, windfoilers, wingfoilers and cruising yachts onto the water. On 10–11 October 2026 (10-11/10), the races take place on the stretch of water in front of the beach and the marina.

It all began in 2017, when three windsurfers from the club wanted to sail from Macinaggio to Capraia, and the competition now pays tribute to the twins Florent and Arthur, young club racers who have died.

The Sfida is listed in the regional calendar of speed and long-distance windsurfing and kitesurfing events, as well as cruising-yacht races. The organisers want a sailing event in October, outside the tourist season, and hope to draw racers from the Tuscan islands. "Our Macinaghju stretch of water offers ideal wind conditions for all types of sail, whether light sailing or cruising yachts," says Isabelle Murzilli, the club's president.

A club and its partners

The Club Nautique de Macinaggio dates from 1970. It is affiliated with the French Sailing Federation and holds the École française de voile label, opens from June to September for courses and private lessons, and keeps a fleet of optimists, catamarans, dinghies, windsurf boards, sea kayaks and paddleboards. It also runs two cruising-yacht regattas: the Petite Giraglia in April and the Corsica Med, between Marseille and Macinaggio.

Adapted sailing, school groups, protection of the sea: the programme leans on its partners. With the association Mare Inseme, an adapted boat offers sailing trips to people with disabilities, in front of the port. The UNSS is a partner: licensed pupils from all over Corsica take part in raids. The Cap Corse and Agriate marine nature park, the French Biodiversity Agency and the SNSM run stands. The event is supported by the commune of Rogliano, the Collectivité de Corse and the Cap Corse inter-municipal tourist office.

Ajaccio and Cervione

Corsica.Doc is a documentary film event held in Ajaccio, at the A Scopa office, on the terre-plein by the station. Created in 1999, it holds its 28th edition in 2026, opened on October 5 and closing on Sunday, October 11. Tickets range from 7 to 25 euros.

On Sunday, October 11, Cervione celebrates its patron saint.

The feast of Saint Alexander honours Santu Lisandru Sauli, Alexander Sauli, bishop of Aleria and builder of the village cathedral in the 16th century. The celebration takes place at the Santa Croce chapel: solemn mass and procession, with the banners of the Confrérie Santu Lisandru Sauli. A convivial moment, spuntinu or concert, follows in the museum courtyard, offered by the municipality. Entry is free.

Born in Milan in 1534, this Barnabite becomes bishop of Aleria in 1570. He has the seminary, the cathedral and the episcopal palace built in Cervione in 1578-1579, then dies in Pavia on October 11, 1593. In 1882, a relic of the saint, the right collarbone, is given to the parish of Cervione. In 1963, at the request of Canon Saravelli and the municipal authorities, the Sacred Congregation of Rites declares him heavenly patron of the town.

On the calendar of the French Sailing Federation, the Sfida counts as a regional and departmental regatta.
