Auvillar's potters' market
Saturday 10 and Sunday 11 October, from 9 am to 7 pm, the 33rd Marché Potier d'Auvillar takes over the Place de la Halle and the Place du Château. Admission is free.
Potters and ceramists come from all over France.
A jury selects them for the quality and originality of their work. The exhibitors travel from Brittany, Alsace, Languedoc, Auvergne, Provence and Burgundy. The stalls carry everyday tableware, stoneware fired in wood kilns or anagama kilns, translucent porcelain, raku, terra sigillata and sculpted pieces.
On the Place de la Halle, a clay sculpture contest runs in front of the public. Selected potters model a piece in a few hours on an imposed theme, and a jury judges the result once the round ends.
From 1739 to 1909, Auvillar housed a faience factory. The Musée du Vieil Auvillar keeps a collection of its pieces, and the market, born of that history, has been running for more than thirty years. The village lies 30 kilometres west of Montauban and is a stage on the Way of St James (GR 65).
Crime fiction, magic and a livestock fair
In Ariège, the Foire de la Barguillère fills the Champ de Mars in Foix on Saturday and Sunday, from 9 am to 6 pm, with livestock, local produce and lumberjack contests, free of charge. On Saturday evening, a local-produce dinner is held in Cos by reservation. In Pamiers, Les Stars de la Magie gives shows at the Salle du Jeu du Mail on Saturday 10/10/2026 at 3.30 pm and 9 pm, then on Sunday at 10.30 am and 3.30 pm. The show lasts about two hours with an interval, and a standard seat costs 19 euros.
