Events and festivals in Normandy on 29-30 August 2026: the La Touques racecourse in Deauville closes its summer meeting and its polo Gold Cup, while MusikenSaire in Barfleur and a medieval weekend in Tourouvre round out the programme.
The last big weekend of the summer. In Deauville, in the Calvados, the August meeting at La Touques runs its final race day on Sunday 30 August. Events and festivals share Normandy on 29-30 August 2026: Deauville's racing and polo both finish with the weekend of 30/08, while Barfleur, Domfront-en-Poiraie and Tourouvre have set their own concerts and fetes on the very same dates.
Sixteen days of flat racing at La Touques
Since 2 August, the Meeting de Deauville Barrière has filled the Deauville-La Touques racecourse. Sixteen days of top-flight flat racing, including seven Group 1 races, the highest tier in the sport: the meeting stands as the major horse-racing event of the French summer.
It ends this Sunday.
The venue carries weight of its own. Inaugurated in 1864 at the instigation of the Duc de Morny, the La Touques track hosts this gallop meeting every August, and for four weeks the races set the rhythm of the town.
Race afternoons come with free entertainment designed for families, a way of opening the lawns to people who never place a bet.
Sunday 30 August is the sixteenth and final card: four weeks of competition close at once, Group 1 races included.
Polo, guitars and knights
Same grounds, different discipline. At the heart of the racecourse, the Coupe d'Or de Polo de Deauville runs until 30 August as part of the Barrière Deauville Polo Cup: created in 1950 by François André, the most prestigious polo tournament in France gathers the best players in the world.
Three festivals of current music fall squarely on this weekend.
- MusikenSaire, created in 2013, lines up between fifteen and twenty Norman bands for free until Sunday at the Crako site in Barfleur, on the east coast of the Cotentin.
- In Domfront-en-Poiraie, Tro'Fest, run since 2021 by the under-25s of the ACJ'Prod association, mixes pop, rock, electro and DJ sets on Friday and Saturday at affordable prices.
- At the Silo in Verneuil d'Avre et d'Iton, L'Émoi Sonore, born in 2023, wraps up two days of punk, rap, soul and electro on Saturday, opened by a marching band through the town centre.
Two other gatherings look to the past.
On Saturday and Sunday, the Fête Médiévale de Tourouvre sets up a medieval camp, a craft market, chivalry shows and fireworks beside the Étang des Fontaines, free of charge. On August 29, 2026 only, À Cor et à Cri devotes a day to hunting traditions and rural life at the Château de Carrouges: a fourth edition that joins the Fête de la Guibray, marking 90 years since the estate passed to the French state.
