Classical and jazz music in the heritage sites of Tours and Amboise
Since 2015, the 37 Degrees in the Shade Festival has explored all kinds of music off the beaten path. Born from the passion of about twenty volunteers, including professional musicians from Touraine, this summer festival offers an original program that creates a dialogue between classical music and jazz in exceptional heritage locations.
The festival takes place in remarkable sites in Tours and Amboise:
Concerts are mainly held on Sunday afternoons at 2:30 PM, offering a regular musical rendezvous throughout the summer. This intimate format allows for a unique proximity between musicians and the audience in human-scale spaces.
The festival's program is distinguished by its eclecticism and boldness. Chamber music, piano recitals, contemporary jazz, baroque music, and original creations are featured in the concerts. Each performance is preceded by a opening act entrusted to young talents from the Centre-Val de Loire region, in partnership with ProQuartet.
In 2025, the festival celebrates its 10th anniversary. Over the years, 37° in the Shade has hosted renowned artists such as the Quatuor Magenta, Ludovic de Preissac, Joël Grare, Yoann Loustalot, Adeline de Preissac, and Leonardo Montana, confirming its place among the essential summer musical events in Touraine.
The festival is supported by the association La Simplesse, created in May 2015. Composed of about twenty passionate volunteers, the association's mission is to make classical music and jazz accessible to the greatest number, with moderate prices (€12 full price, €9 reduced price) and free admission for children under 9 years old.
11th edition of the Festival 37° à l'Ombre, from June 28 to July 26, 2026: eight chamber music concerts blending classical and jazz, in the heritage sites of Tours, Amboise, and Turquant. Program presented by the La Simplesse association, centered around harpist Adeline de Preissac.
From June 28 to July 26, 2026, the Festival 37° à l'Ombre returns for its 11th edition with eight events spread over four weeks, between Tours, Amboise, and the Saumurois region. The festival presents its chamber music program — where classical music dialogues with jazz, dance, theater, and visual arts — in exceptional heritage sites: Cloître de la Psalette in Tours, Église Saint-Florentin in Amboise, Église Saint-Aubin and Château de la Fessardière in Turquant.
Founded by harpist Adeline de Preissac, its artistic director, the festival has cultivated a unique approach for over ten years: breaking down audience barriers, demystifying listening, broadening the repertoire, and offering young talents the opportunity to perform in remarkable heritage settings. Artists choose their program and share exclusive moments, without protocol.
On the program: baritone Cyrille Dubois in Schubert's Winterreise, the Quatuor Hana, singer Isabelle Georges accompanied by the Trio Parhélie, saxophonist Jean-Charles Richard, the Quatuor Dalhia, and numerous duos and trios featuring Adeline de Preissac on harp.
