Luminous and sound trail along the Indrois with projections on Montrésor Castle
Every summer, Nuits Solaires transforms the village of Montrésor — listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France — into an enchanting luminous and sound trail. Along the Indrois river, solar garlands float in the air and reflect in the water, while image projections illuminate the castle facades. Villagers light up their gardens and houses to create a unique nocturnal walk between light art, sound installations, and heritage. Exhibitions showcase artists from Touraine with varied techniques: painting, mosaic, sound art, cyanotype, and plastic art. Free access every evening of the summer.
Montrésor, listed among the Most Beautiful Villages of France, offers a naturally magical setting for the Nuits Solaires. This small village in southern Touraine, nestled on the banks of the Indrois and dominated by its Renaissance castle, adorns itself with lights and sounds every summer for a magical nocturnal walk.
The heart of Nuits Solaires is a luminous trail set up along the banks of the Indrois. Dozens of solar garlands — powered by solar energy — float in the air and reflect in the calm waters of the river, creating an enchanting nocturnal landscape. The village and the castle are the central elements of this decor, with facades adorned with light projections that play with the architecture and history of the place.
Nuits Solaires includes an exhibition cycle of about two months showcasing female artists from Touraine with eclectic techniques. Among the featured artists: Inès Lefranc (painting), Wanda Szerauc (sound installation), Sandrine Housseau (plastic art), Mélaine Lanoë and Marie-Laure Besson (mosaic), and Véronique Vasari (cyanotype). The works are presented in the village's public spaces and heritage sites.
One of the unique features of Nuits Solaires is the participation of the residents who light up their gardens and houses, creating an organic and spontaneous luminous trail through the village alleys. This participatory and community dimension makes Nuits Solaires an authentic event, driven by the villagers themselves, who transform Montrésor into a lively and warm place.
The Château de Montrésor, built in the 11th century by Foulques Nerra and enhanced during the Renaissance, overlooks the village from its rocky promontory. The ensemble formed by the castle, the Saint-Jean-Baptiste collegiate church, the old houses, and the banks of the Indrois creates a landscape of rare beauty that Nuits Solaires enhances with the magic of light and sound. Access to the trail is free every evening of the summer, offering an accessible experience for everyone.
The 2026 edition of Nuits Solaires will illuminate the village of Montrésor all summer with a luminous trail along the Indrois, projections on the castle, sound installations, and artist exhibitions.
Nuits Solaires will return to Montrésor for the summer of 2026 with a new luminous and sound trail along the Indrois. Program and artists to be announced.
By car: Montrésor is located 55 km southeast of Tours via the D760 then the D10. Free parking in the village center.
