About Les Tuffolies

Les Tuffolies is the historic wine fair of Vouvray, organized annually around August 15th in the troglodyte cellars of La Bonne Dame. For over sixty editions, this emblematic event of the AOC Vouvray appellation has brought together about twenty winemakers who present their latest vintages in a 15th-century gallery labyrinth dug into the tuffeau stone. Visitors discover the four facets of Vouvray wines—dry, off-dry, mellow, and sparkling—accompanied by local regional products: cheeses, cured meats, snails, honey, and Loire fish.

Les Tuffolies – Vouvray Wine Fair

Les Tuffolies are the oldest and most famous wine event in Vouvray, an emblematic commune of the Loire Valley vineyards. Organized annually around August 15th, this wine fair takes place in the unique setting of the troglodyte cellars of La Bonne Dame, 15th-century underground galleries dug into the tuffeau, the characteristic white stone of Touraine.

A Wine and Troglodyte Heritage

The cellars of La Bonne Dame offer a labyrinthine route designed so that visitors don't miss any stands. In these galleries with naturally cool and constant temperatures, about twenty winemakers from the AOC Vouvray appellation present their latest vintages. Visitors can discover the four facets of Vouvray wines: dry, off-dry, mellow, and sparkling (traditional method), all made from the chenin blanc grape variety.

Terroir and Gastronomy

Beyond the wines, Les Tuffolies offers a selection of local regional products to pair with Vouvray wines: Touraine goat cheeses (including the famous Sainte-Maure-de-Touraine), artisanal cured meats, snails, honey, and Loire fish. This gastronomic dimension makes the event a true celebration of the Touraine region.

A Tradition of Over Sixty Years

With over 60 editions to their name, Les Tuffolies are rooted in the wine and popular tradition of Vouvray. The event takes place over three days and attracts both locals and tourists visiting the Loire Valley. Admission is free, with a tasting glass available for €3 at the cellar entrance.

An Exceptional Setting

The cellars of La Bonne Dame, located at 20 rue de la Bonne Dame in Vouvray, are a remarkable troglodyte heritage site. This network of galleries, once used for tuffeau extraction and wine storage, offers a cool and authentic setting, ideal for summer tastings.
