Quinte et Sens Festival: "From Bach to Bacchus," musical delights in the Amboise region
The Quinte et Sens Festival embodies a simple yet captivating idea: marrying the pleasures of classical music with those of wine and heritage. Under the evocative subtitle "From Bach to Bacchus," the festival hosts a summer program of chamber music concerts paired with local wine tastings and explorations of the Amboise region's historic sites.
A dynamic association dedicated to music
The Quinte et Sens, Musique, Patrimoine et Vignoble association, founded with a commitment to supporting classical music and performers, organizes the festival in partnership with the Communauté de communes du Val d'Amboise (CCVA) and the towns of Amboise, Cangey, Nazelles-Négron, Pocé-sur-Cisse, and Saint-Ouen-les-Vignes. The festival aims to reach new audiences, particularly in rural areas, those less familiar with the arts, and young people, through accessible concerts featuring up-and-coming musicians.
Concerts in exceptional settings
Festival concerts take place in a variety of heritage sites across the Amboise region: historic churches, museums, chapels, public squares, and vineyards. This nomadic approach allows the public to discover often-overlooked locations while enjoying natural acoustics and an intimate atmosphere.
Original themes
Each edition of the festival is built around an original theme that guides the musical programming and associated activities. The festival has notably hosted Czech composer Kryštof Mařatka in residence, organizing an edition centered on Czech composers—Dvořák, Suk, Janáček—alongside the great classics. Other editions have explored the links between music and prehistoric instruments, opening up unexpected perspectives on music history.
Where music meets the terroir
The originality of the Quinte et Sens Festival lies in its combination of classical music with the wine-growing terroir of Amboise. Tastings of AOC Touraine-Amboise wines, visits to estates, and meetings with winemakers round out the concerts, creating a complete sensory experience that engages all five senses—hence the festival's name.
An accessible and friendly festival
True to its mission of democratizing classical music, the Quinte et Sens Festival offers affordable ticket prices and a welcoming atmosphere. Concerts are often followed by a social gathering over a glass of wine, fostering warm exchanges between musicians, winemakers, and the public, in the spirit of a community-focused, human-scale festival.
