The largest vintage bike gathering in Europe
Since its first edition in 2011, Anjou Vélo Vintage has become the largest gathering of vintage bicycles in Europe and a flagship event in the Saumurois region. For a weekend in June, the city of Saumur and its surroundings transform into a life-sized retro setting, welcoming thousands of participants from all over France and abroad to enjoy a unique cycling experience.
The event offers several cycling tour routes from 30 to 65 km, crossing the iconic landscapes of the Loire Valley, a UNESCO World Heritage site: castles, renowned vineyards, troglodyte villages, and the banks of the Loire. The dress code is strict: participants ride old bicycles (period frames, frame-mounted derailleurs) and wear retro costumes — tweed, floral dresses, caps, and suspenders — for a festive and good-natured ride.
In the historic heart of Saumur, a large vintage village with free access welcomes participants and visitors throughout the weekend. It features a retro flea market, designer stands offering vintage-inspired clothing and accessories, tastings of local specialties — Saumur wines, fouées, and other regional delicacies —, food trucks, and catering areas. The village is open to everyone, cyclists or not.
The musical program is a cornerstone of Anjou Vélo Vintage. Swing, jazz, rockabilly, and musette concerts set the rhythm for the village and accompany participants from morning to evening, from the city center to the rural refreshment stops along the routes. Retro dance workshops complete the entertainment. The atmosphere is festive, quirky, and deeply convivial.
Anjou Vélo Vintage is organized by Loire Événement Organisation (LEO), in partnership with SPL Saumur Val de Loire Tourisme and the City of Saumur. The event significantly contributes to the tourist and economic appeal of the Saumurois region, attracting tens of thousands of visitors and participants each year who discover the riches of the Loire Valley in a festive and quirky spirit.
The 14th edition of Anjou Vélo Vintage takes place from June 26 to 28, 2026, in Saumur. Europe's largest vintage bicycle gathering offers six retro rides from 30 to 65 km, a free-access vintage village, swing concerts, a retro flea market, and tastings in the exceptional setting of the Loire Valley.
Anjou Vélo Vintage returns for its 14th edition from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28, 2026. The vintage village opens its doors with free access in the historic heart of Saumur from Friday and remains lively throughout the weekend. The retro cycling rides take place on Saturday and Sunday on routes from 30 to 65 km through the Saumurois region, its vineyards, its troglodytic villages, and the banks of the Loire, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
The success remains considerable: the thousands of bibs put on sale at the opening of the ticket office (on March 31, 2026) sold out in just a few hours. The vintage village and its activities remain free and open to all.
For the rides, a vintage bicycle (pre-1987, frame-mounted derailleurs, classic pedals) and a retro outfit from the 1930s to 1980s are mandatory. Costumes, tweed, floral dresses, and old-fashioned accessories transform the peloton into a true journey through time.
