About Anjou Vélo Vintage

Created in 2011, Anjou Vélo Vintage is the largest vintage bike gathering in Europe. Every year in June, over 11,000 participants invade Saumur and the Saumurois region for a festive and offbeat weekend combining retro cycling tours, swing and jazz concerts, a vintage village, a flea market, and local specialty tastings. Period costumes, vintage bikes, retro music, and a good-natured spirit make this event a unique experience, blending sport, culture, and French art de vivre, in the exceptional setting of the Loire Valley.

Anjou Vélo Vintage: The Retro Cycling Festival in the Loire Valley

Since its first edition in 2011, Anjou Vélo Vintage has become the largest vintage bike gathering in Europe and a flagship event in the Saumurois region. For a weekend in June, the city of Saumur and its surroundings transform into a life-size retro setting, welcoming over 11,000 participants from all over France and abroad to experience a unique cycling adventure.

Cycling Tours in an Exceptional Setting

The event offers several cycling tour routes ranging from 30 to 130 km, crossing the iconic landscapes of the Loire Valley: châteaux, vineyards, tuffeau stone villages, the banks of the Loire River, and limestone hills. The dress code is mandatory: participants ride their vintage bikes and wear period costumes—tweed, floral dresses, caps, and suspenders—for a festive and good-natured ride.

A Vintage Village in the Heart of Saumur

In the historic heart of Saumur, a vast vintage village welcomes participants and visitors. You'll find stalls for retro flea market finds, designers offering vintage-inspired clothing and accessories, tastings of local specialties—Saumur wines, rillettes, fouaces, and other regional delicacies—and dining areas. The village is open to everyone, cyclists or not.

Concerts and Retro Musical Atmosphere

The musical program is a cornerstone of Anjou Vélo Vintage. Over 200 artists perform on two stages, offering concerts in a swing, jazz, rockabilly, and musette atmosphere. Music accompanies participants from morning to night, from the vintage village to the countryside refreshment stops along the routes. The atmosphere is festive, quirky, and deeply convivial.

An Event Rooted in the Region

Anjou Vélo Vintage is a historical partner of the French Cycling Federation through the Cyclotouristes Saumurois club. The event significantly contributes to the tourism and economic influence of the Saumurois region, attracting thousands of visitors and participants who discover the riches of the Loire Valley in a festive and unconventional spirit.
