About Auzon Festival

The Auzon Festival is a music and arts festival organized every summer by the Auzon Toujours association in the medieval town of Auzon, a Petite Cité de Caractère in Haute-Loire. In August, the Collégiale Saint-Laurent — a jewel of Auvergnat Romanesque art with 14th-century Italian-inspired frescoes — hosts a series of concerts (baroque, romantic, and medieval music), while chapels and galleries in the old town present exhibitions by artists and craftspeople. Each edition is built around a theme, complemented by conferences, musical strolls, and meetings. Not to be confused with « Le Coffret d'Auzon », a separate event by the same association.

The Auzon Festival: Music and Arts in the Heart of a Medieval Town

The Auzon Festival is organized every summer by the Auzon Toujours association in the medieval town of Auzon (43390), classified as a Petite Cité de Caractère in Haute-Loire. For three weeks in August, the festival brings music and visual arts into dialogue within an exceptional heritage setting.

Concerts at the Collégiale Saint-Laurent

The festival's jewel, the Collégiale Saint-Laurent — a masterpiece of Auvergnat Romanesque architecture, whose Chapelle Notre-Dame and Chapelle Saint-Michel house remarkable Italian-inspired frescoes dating from around 1357 — hosts a series of concerts. The musical program spans several centuries, from baroque music to romantic music and the medieval repertoire, performed by guest artists and professional ensembles.

Exhibitions by Artists and Craftspeople

In parallel with the concerts, the festival takes over the chapels and galleries of the old town — notably the Chapelle Notre-Dame du Portail and the Galerie Le Fumoir — with free-access exhibitions by painters, sculptors, and craftspeople. The event « Les Arts dans le Village » extends the celebration to Auzon's squares, cellars, and courtyards, where artists present their works and expertise.

A New Theme Each Year

Each edition of the Auzon Festival is built around a theme that guides concerts, exhibitions, and conferences, complemented by musical strolls through the town's narrow streets.
