Contemporary circus in the spotlight in Tarbes
The Barakacirq Festival is the flagship event of the Passing circus school in Tarbes. Every year in June, the school opens its doors and invites the public to discover contemporary circus in all its forms: acrobatics, balancing, juggling, unicycling, trapeze, and many other disciplines.
A two-part program
Student shows
The aspiring circus artists from the Passing school present their end-of-year creations on various themes. These shows, the result of a year-long effort, demonstrate the vitality of circus arts education in Tarbes.
Professional shows
The festival hosts renowned contemporary circus companies. In 2024, the Gers collective Tarabiscoté presented their creation “Liens”. In 2025, shows such as “Tricycle” and “Contact”, combining bicycle acrobatics and acrobatic lifts, were part of the program.
A neighborhood festival
Barakacirq takes over the Mouysset district in Tarbes with parades of unicycles, bicycles, and non-motorized rolling devices, creating a festive and participatory atmosphere. The festival aims to be accessible to all with a solidarity-based pricing policy.
