Created in the 1970s, this popular event offers a huge open-air garage sale, with entertainment including a children's area and country dance demonstrations. For over fifty years, the Braderie de La Ferté-Macé has been one of the most popular events in the Orne and Normandy regions. Every first Sunday of September, around 400 exhibitors take over the streets of the city center to offer a huge open-air garage sale, attracting thousands of visitors from all over the Norman bocage and beyond.
The streets of the La Ferté-Macé city center are transformed into a vast open-air flea market. Hundreds of stalls line hundreds of meters, offering a varied selection: furniture, trinkets, clothing, books, vinyl records, toys, crockery, tools, and unusual items. The thrill of the hunt, the possibility of finding treasures, and lively haggling are the charm of this great Norman flea market.

The Braderie de La Ferté-Macé is a popular event par excellence. Admission is free for visitors, and the warm and relaxed atmosphere makes it a family and intergenerational gathering. Downtown businesses participate in the festivities by offering entertainment and special deals.
The event is organized by the UCIA (Union Commerciale, Industrielle et Artisanale) of La Ferté-Macé, which handles logistics, space allocation, and the smooth running of this day. The space for exhibitors is offered at €3.50 per linear meter, making participation accessible to all individuals wishing to clear out their attics and cellars.

By car: La Ferté-Macé is located 30 km from Flers, 50 km from Alençon, and 15 km from Bagnoles-de-l'Orne. Accessible via the D916 from Argentan (approx. 35 minutes) or the D908 from Domfront (approx. 25 minutes). From Caen, take the A88 then the D916 (approx. 1h15). Please note: on the day of the flea market, the city center is closed to traffic. Free parking is available on the outskirts of the city center with specific signage.
By train: Nearest station: Briouze (15 km) on the Paris-Granville line, or Flers (30 km). Additional transportation is required to reach La Ferté-Macé.
The flea market takes place in the streets of the city center of La Ferté-Macé, 61600. Approximately 400 exhibitors set up along several hundred meters in the pedestrian and commercial streets. The children's area is located under the church porch, and country dance demonstrations take place in front of the town hall.
From 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Experienced bargain hunters arrive as early as opening at 7 AM to find the best deals. The peak crowd is in the mid-morning.
Free admission for visitors. For individual exhibitors: €3.50 per linear meter (garage sale spaces). Food stalls are not permitted. For professional exhibitors, contact the UCIA for specific arrangements and prices.
Individuals wishing to sell at the flea market can book a space by contacting the UCIA of La Ferté-Macé. It is advisable to book early, as the best-located spots are quickly taken.
Restaurants and bars in the city center are open and offer their services during the flea market. Bakeries, crêperies, and delicatessens provide easy dining options throughout the day.
