The Pyrenean carnival in the heart of the Marian city
The Carnaval de Lourdes takes place every year in February within the majestic walls of the Château fort – Musée pyrénéen, overlooking the town of Lourdes. This family celebration marks the arrival of spring with a festive program combining Pyrenean traditions and entertainment for all ages.
Children are invited to wear their finest costumes to participate in the festivities. The program includes a family game trail in the fortress, festive storytelling, music, and dance presented by the Collectif Dahu. Participants can enjoy a walk through the fortress, wooden games, and a ball with an introduction to Pyrenean dance.
The Carnaval Pyrénéen de Lourdes is more than just a costume party. It is part of the Pyrenean carnival tradition, with its emblematic characters and traditional dances. The Château fort, a listed historic monument, offers an incomparable setting for this celebration, blending medieval heritage and mountain folklore.
On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, the Château fort of Lourdes will host a carnival themed around a medieval banquet. The program includes: desserts, traditional music, juggling, and festive group games. A photo rally allows participants to discover elements of the banquet menu in the Pyrenean Museum.
