Festival of cheeses and gastronomy in Neuillé-Pont-Pierre
The Neuillé-Pont-Pierre Cheese and Gastronomy Festival is an annual event that brings together producers, restaurateurs, winemakers, and gastronomy enthusiasts every third weekend in May for two days of discovery and conviviality. Founded over 35 years ago, this fair highlights the region's cheeses, particularly the famous Sainte-Maure de Touraine AOP, as well as cured meats, wines, and local products from Touraine. A market of carefully selected producers offers a varied range of local and regional specialties.
The Neuillé-Pont-Pierre Cheese and Gastronomy Festival is a gourmet gathering held every third weekend in May in this town in northern Indre-et-Loire. For over 35 years, this event has celebrated the richness of Touraine's cheese and gastronomic heritage.
The festival features a producers' market with carefully selected vendors presenting a varied range of local and regional products. Cheeses take pride of place, featuring the renowned Sainte-Maure de Touraine AOP, a famous goat cheese with a rye straw, as well as other tommes, aged cheeses, and cheese specialties from all over France. Cured meats, honeys, jams, and pastries complete this gourmet offering.
Winemakers from the region are also present to showcase Touraine appellations: Vouvray, Chinon, Bourgueil, Touraine, and many others. Food and wine pairings are offered, allowing visitors to appreciate the combinations between local cheeses and regional vintages. Restaurateurs provide on-site dining with dishes made from fresh, local ingredients.
The festival is enlivened by numerous activities throughout the weekend: culinary demonstrations, tasting workshops, musical entertainment, and children's activities. The festive and convivial atmosphere makes this event a cherished moment of sharing for locals and visitors from across the region.
Neuillé-Pont-Pierre, a rural commune located about thirty kilometers north of Tours, takes pride in this festival, which contributes to local dynamism and the promotion of Touraine's gastronomic heritage. The event is supported by the municipality and involves many volunteers who participate in its organization and success.
