Elfondurock: Thirty Years of Female Rock in Marcoussis

Founded in 1996 on the initiative of the municipal team of Marcoussis, the Elfondurock festival has a strong and rare editorial positioning in the French festival landscape: the promotion and defense of female musical creation. From the amateur artist performing on stage for the first time to the nationally recognized professional artist, the festival offers a valuable platform for all forms of rock and alternative musical expression led by women.

A Committed and Inclusive Festival

Elfondurock is much more than a musical program. It is a militant act in favor of gender parity in music, a still very male-dominated sector. In its thirty years of existence, the festival has helped launch dozens of female artists from the region, offering them their first stage, their first live experience, their first public recognition. It embodies the conviction that rock music has no gender and that women have their rightful place in it.

An Intimate and Warm Format

The festival takes place over two evenings at the Atmosphère - Espace culturel Jean-Montaru in Marcoussis, a human-sized venue that fosters proximity between artists and the audience. The intimate format creates a warm club atmosphere, far from large festival gatherings, where each performance is experienced as a shared moment. Every Friday evening, professional artists lead the way; every Saturday, amateur and emerging bands take over the stage.

The 2025 Edition — 29th Edition

The 29th edition of Elfondurock was held on March 7 and 8, 2025 at the Atmosphère Jean-Montaru. The program for these two evenings featured: Rori, Nuit Noire (Mégane Thibert and her electro lullabies) and Adé on Friday; Simone Ringer, Sun, Ditter, Persephone's Revenge (electro-pop duo) and Why on Saturday. The quality of the performances and the unique atmosphere of the festival once again captivated the loyal audience of Marcoussis.

The 2026 Edition — 30th Anniversary

For its 30th anniversary, Elfondurock returns on March 20 and 21, 2026. This anniversary edition promises to be particularly memorable with a choice lineup: Grandmas Ashes, Tout le monde s'appelle Clara, Coal Noir, Les Décibelles, Les Vulves Assassines, Grandmas House, Melba, Sexy Truck and Camenae. A resolutely feminist, rock, and festive program to celebrate three decades of musical commitment.

Strong Local Roots

Elfondurock is a festival deeply rooted in the cultural life of Marcoussis and the Essonne region. Bands formed at the École des Arts de Marcoussis get their start here, and many artists from the region began their careers on this stage. The municipality of Marcoussis, a historic partner of the festival, is its main institutional supporter.
