Contemporary dance in all its forms in Dijon
The Festival Art Danse is the annual meeting place for contemporary dance in Dijon. Created in 1988 by Marijo Gros and Véronique Mathiaut, this festival, supported by Le Dancing, offers three weeks of shows, workshops, and meetings around choreographic creation every spring.
Founded in 1988 by dancers and choreographers Marijo Gros and Véronique Mathiaut, the Festival Art Danse is one of the oldest contemporary dance festivals in Bourgogne-Franche-Comté. Supported by the company Le Dancing, it has evolved over the decades to become a major event for choreographic creation in France.
Art Danse distinguishes itself by its openness to both professional and amateur choreographers. The festival offers performances by recognized companies, creations in residence, participatory workshops, and meetings between artists and the public. This dual professional and amateur dimension is its richness and originality.
Since 2020, the festival has refocused on the Dijon metropolitan area while extending its reach far beyond its regional borders. It takes over theaters, halls, and public spaces in Dijon to offer a demanding yet accessible program that questions the body, movement, and society.
