Festival Foto Natur en Argoat

ℹ️ Festival discontinued. The Foto Natur en Argoat Festival is no longer taking place. The organizers from the Cardamines et Libellules association announced on their official website that the November 2024 edition (the fifth) was the last: «The year 2025 was supposed to be a year of pause… In fact, it is a year of end.» The association cites volunteer fatigue, the desire to dedicate themselves to other projects, and a lack of financial support from local authorities during the last edition. It indicates that it is considering other forms of events, without a new edition of the festival being scheduled to date.

Foto Natur en Argoat: Nature in Images in Bignan

For several years, the Foto Natur en Argoat Festival highlighted the beauty of nature through photography in the heart of inland Morbihan, in Bignan. Organized by the Cardamines et Libellules association, a locally established environmental education structure, this festival offered an immersive weekend dedicated to nature photography in all its forms.

Exceptional Photographic Exhibitions

The festival presented about ten photographic exhibitions, some of which had never been shown in the region. Themes covered a wide spectrum: wildlife photography (birds, mammals, insects), natural landscapes, macrophotography (flowers, mushrooms, nature details), underwater photography, and nature reports. The large-format prints allowed the appreciation of the photographers' work in all its subtlety.

Breton Photographers and Guests

The festival made it a point of honor to promote Breton photographers, both amateur and professional, many of whom captured their images in the local area. It also welcomed photographers from other regions, offering a rich and diverse panorama of contemporary nature photography. The artists were present to interact with the public and share their passion and technique.

Photo Rallies, Workshops, and Conferences

In parallel with the exhibitions, the festival offered nature photo rallies in partnership with the Bignan media library, introductory nature photography workshops, conferences on biodiversity and ecology, as well as nature activities for children. The 2024 edition notably welcomed Jean-Yves Bardoul, a specialist in green music, for workshops and a show.

Argoat, Land of Nature and Biodiversity

The festival's name referred to Argoat, the land of the woods in Breton, which designates inland Brittany as opposed to Armor (the land of the sea). Bignan, a rural commune in central Morbihan, offers a preserved natural setting, between hedgerows, woods, and rivers, conducive to observing and photographing Breton fauna and flora. The festival was part of the environmental education mission of the Cardamines et Libellules association.
