Festival Latino Roc

A festival to the rhythms of Latin America

Launched in 2003-2004, the Latino Roc Festival had established itself as a summer event for Latin music in the Hautes-Pyrénées. Organized by the Latino Pireneos association in partnership with the municipality of Cauterets, the event invited international Latin artists for three to four days of concerts, entertainment, and festive parades in the streets of the thermal resort.

Musical program

The program blended salsa, reggaeton, cumbia, bachata, rumba, ska, dub, reggae, and Latin groove. Guest artists performed outdoors and under a big top, offering the public evenings enlivened by the sounds of Latin America.

Workshops and entertainment

Beyond the concerts, Latino Roc stood out for its many participatory activities:

• Dance workshops: introductions to salsa, tango, bachata
• Percussion workshops: discovery of Latin American rhythms
• Street parades: festive parades with musicians and dancers
• Latin and organic market: artisanal products and South American specialties

An environmental commitment

The festival also displayed an ecological commitment, offering conferences and exhibitions on the preservation of the mountain environment, combining celebration and awareness of the natural richness of the Cauterets valley.

The end of an adventure

The official website latinoroc.fr is no longer online, and no recent edition appears in Cauterets' official agendas. If a new edition were ever to be organized, announcements would likely come through the Cauterets tourist office or the town hall.
