The oldest wine festival in the world

The Festival of Great Burgundian Wines is considered the oldest wine event still in operation. Created at the end of the 19th century under the name "Exposition Générale des Vins de Bourgogne", it was renamed in 2008 to become the Festival of Great Burgundian Wines. Organized by the CAVB (Confederation of Burgundy Appellations and Winegrowers), it is held annually in November at the Palais des Congrès de Beaune, as part of the Hospices de Beaune Wine Sale.

84 appellations to taste

The Festival of Great Burgundian Wines is the only event where an entrance ticket gives free access to the tasting of all 84 appellations of Greater Burgundy, from Chablis to Beaujolais, including the Grands Crus of the Côte d'Or and the wines of the Mâconnais. Estates, cooperatives, and trading houses offer bottles, and winegrowers and their staff voluntarily staff the tasting booths.

A meeting for enthusiasts

The principle has remained the same for over 150 years: to allow the public to discover and taste the extraordinary diversity of Burgundy wines in one place. The 2025 edition, the 152nd, will be held on November 14th and 15th at the Palais des Congrès de Beaune, with extended opening hours allowing visitors to fully enjoy this immersion in Burgundy's wine heritage.

An event at the heart of the Trois Glorieuses

The Festival of Great Wines is naturally part of the program of the Trois Glorieuses de Beaune, this November weekend that brings together the Hospices Wine Sale, the Chapter of the Clos de Vougeot, and the Paulée de Meursault. It is an ideal complement for enthusiasts who wish to broaden their discovery beyond just the Hospices wines and explore the full richness of the Burgundy vineyard.
