Every year on May 1st, the village of Larche, located near Brive-la-Gaillarde, comes alive to celebrate the new garlic, this emblematic spring product of the region. The Fête de l'Ail Nouveau de Larche has become over the years one of the major events in the department, attracting thousands of visitors from all over Corrèze and neighboring departments.
A large flea market
The main attraction of the festival is its huge flea market which brings together over 300 exhibitors, individuals and professionals, on the Place du 8 Mai and in the village streets. From 8 am to 6 pm, bargain hunters and bargain lovers can rummage through the stalls in search of hidden treasures: antique objects, furniture, books, clothes, toys, dishes...
This giant flea market creates a lively and friendly atmosphere where it's pleasant to stroll, discover, and negotiate in good spirits.
New garlic tasting
Highlight of the day: the free tasting of new garlic offered from 9:30 am by the Larche Festival Committee. New garlic, harvested in spring before full maturity, is a fresh and mild product that can be enjoyed in many ways.
Visitors can taste it prepared in all its forms:
- Raw new garlic
- Roasted in the oven
- On toast with butter and salt
- In soups and creams
- In traditional local preparations
This free tasting allows visitors to (re)discover this early vegetable and its delicate flavors, very different from dried garlic.

Throughout the day, the festival offers various entertainment:

A festival organized by volunteers
The Fête de l'Ail Nouveau is organized by the Larche Festival Committee with the help of many local associations. Thanks to the work of volunteers, this free event, open to all, keeps the village alive and celebrates the gastronomic traditions of Corrèze.

The 2026 edition of the Larche New Garlic Festival was held on Friday, May 1st, 2026 in the center of the Corrèze village, with its traditional flea market and the free tasting of new garlic offered by the Festival Committee.
2026 Edition: the May 1st event took place
The Larche New Garlic Festival took place on Friday, May 1st, 2026, in accordance with the tradition established every May 1st in this village near Brive-la-Gaillarde.
On the program: a large flea market from 8 AM to 6 PM on Place du 8 Mai and in the village streets, bringing together several hundred private and professional exhibitors. Traffic and parking were temporarily regulated by municipal decree to accommodate the event.
As every year, the Larche Festival Committee offered a free tasting of new garlic from the morning, accompanied by rillettes and fromage blanc, in the friendly atmosphere of May 1st in Corrèze. Food stalls, refreshment stands, and musical entertainment punctuated the day.
The 2026 edition confirmed the lasting popularity of this emblematic spring event in southern Corrèze. The next edition is expected on Saturday, May 1st, 2027.

- By car: Larche is located about 8 km south of Brive-la-Gaillarde. Follow the D921 towards Souillac/Martel.
- Parking: Free parking in the village and surrounding areas (high attendance, arriving early recommended).
- By train: Brive-la-Gaillarde station (8 km away), then taxi or bus.
