The Fête des Plantes de Saint-Jean-de-Beauregard: A Dream Garden Open to the World
The Château de Saint-Jean-de-Beauregard, an elegant 17th-century estate located in the Mérantaise valley a few kilometers from Paris, is twice a year the stage for one of Europe's most beautiful horticultural events: the Fête des Plantes. In spring and autumn, more than 200 exhibitors from the best French and European nurseries showcase rare plants, shrubs, perennials, bulbs, and garden art in the park's avenues.
A Biannual Event with International Reach
Organized by the Association des Amis du Château de Saint-Jean-de-Beauregard, the Fête des Plantes has existed since the 1990s. It is held at two key times in the gardener's calendar:
- In Spring (April): The larger of the two events, ideal for seasonal planting with a theme renewed each year. In 2026, the theme is "Beautiful and Nourishing".
- In Autumn (September-October): A more intimate event dedicated to autumn planting, winter bulbs, and border plants.
Each event attracts tens of thousands of enthusiasts from all over the Île-de-France region and beyond to discover varieties not found in traditional garden centers and to meet specialized producers.
The Château and its Gardens, An Exceptional Setting
The Château de Saint-Jean-de-Beauregard, a listed Historic Monument, is surrounded by a French formal garden and a remarkable 17th-century historic vegetable garden, one of the most beautiful in France, with its 400 meters of trellises, its beds of old vegetables, and its espaliered fruit trees. This unique setting gives the Fête des Plantes an incomparable atmosphere, where horticultural beauty blends with architectural elegance.
More than 200 Specialized Exhibitors
What makes the Fête des Plantes de Saint-Jean-de-Beauregard famous is above all the rigorous selection of its exhibitors. You will find:
- Specialized nurserymen offering rare or hard-to-find plants
- Rose growers with old varieties and new creations
- Producers of aromatic and medicinal plants
- Garden artisans: pottery, tools, garden furniture, decoration
- Publishers and booksellers specializing in horticulture and botany
- Seed merchants offering old seeds and local varieties
Activities and Conferences
Alongside the market stalls, the Fête des Plantes offers a cultural and educational program: conferences by expert botanists and gardeners, guided tours of the historic vegetable garden and park, meetings with landscape designers and agronomists. These moments of exchange and sharing contribute to the educational dimension of the event.
