Celebration of textile heritage and Breton folklore in Quintin
From 1650 to 1830, Quintin was recognized as the most important commercial center for the manufacture of fabrics known as Toiles Bretagnes. The weavers of Quintin were renowned for their exceptional know-how, producing linen fabrics of remarkable fineness and whiteness, exported to the most prestigious markets in Europe and Latin America from the port of Saint-Malo. The Fete des Tisserands, created in 1992, perpetuates the memory of this unique textile heritage.
Since 2005, the Fete des Tisserands has taken place over two days. Saturday is dedicated to visits to the blanderies (traditional linen bleaching facilities), the textile craft market, and the evening fashion show in Roz Maria park. Sunday is the day of the great popular festival: a parade in period costumes, street performances, Breton music, a fest-deiz, weaving demonstrations, traditional plowing, and entertainment for the whole family.
The craft market at the Fete des Tisserands brings together textile artisans—weavers, spinners, dyers, creators—who showcase their skills and creations. This space for discovery and direct sales allows the public to appreciate the diversity of textile techniques, from traditional linen to contemporary creations.
The festival takes place in the town center of Quintin and in Roz Maria park, 22800 Quintin.
