A must-attend maritime event
The Fête Maritime du Légué is one of the highlights of the summer in Saint-Brieuc and Plérin. Organized every year on the first weekend of July at the port of Légué, on the Plérin side, this large free maritime festival welcomes dozens of old rigs and traditional fishing boats that the public can visit at the quay. The Grand Léjon association, named after the traditional cutter built in 1992, is behind this event which celebrates Breton maritime heritage.
Concerts, sea shanties and fest-noz
The musical program of the Fête Maritime mixes sea shanties, Breton music and fest-noz. Free concerts liven up the quays throughout the weekend, while street performances — jugglers, storytellers, and circus artists — take over the public spaces of the port. The Saturday evening fest-noz is one of the highlights of the festival, bringing together experienced dancers and novices in a festive atmosphere.
Maritime heritage and crafts
The festival also offers exhibitions on maritime heritage, workshops on knot tying and boat building, as well as an artisanal market bringing together local creators and producers. Sea trips aboard the old rigs offer the opportunity to discover the bay of Saint-Brieuc from the sea. On-site catering features seafood and Breton specialties.
