Organized by the Fédération Fiere di Corsica, the Fiera di u Turisimu Campagnolu (Rural Tourism Fair) is held annually in early August at the prehistoric site of Filitosa, in the commune of Sollacaro, in Corse-du-Sud. Created in 1992, this fair has become one of the most anticipated summer events in the Taravu valley and throughout Corsica.
For three days, the megalithic site of Filitosa welcomes a hundred Corsican producers, artisans, farmers, and rural tourism stakeholders. The first day is traditionally reserved for professionals, with the following two days open to the general public. Each edition highlights a guest region or terroir: in recent years, the Basque Country, Sardinia, Alsace, Liguria, and Lot have had this honor.
Visitors discover typical local products: cheeses, cured meats, wines, olive oil, honey, pastries, as well as traditional crafts (pottery, cutlery, wood carving, basketry, ironwork, jewelry). Demonstrations, tastings, and sharing of know-how punctuate these days within the exceptional setting of the prehistoric site.
The fair offers on-site catering (spit-roasted veal, wood-fired grills), Corsican song concerts, a dance animated by a DJ, as well as pony and horse rides for children. A true celebration of the island's rural and cultural heritage.
