About Foret Follies
Forêt Follies was a nature and craft festival organized every September in the heart of the Chabrières forest, near Guéret (Creuse), from 2008 to 2024. For 17 editions, it transformed the paths of this 2,000-hectare state forest into an ephemeral village blending creators, craftspeople, nature workshops, and shows, attracting between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors each year. The event no longer takes place in this form: in 2025, it gave way to a lighter format celebration of the forest.

In its place: Chabrières en fête, September 12th and 13th, 2026
The Forêt de Chabrières will continue its September tradition under a new name. After a single-day event in 2025, "Chabrières en fête" will span two days in 2026, themed around the "Symphony of Colors": Saturday, September 12th from 11:00 AM to 8:30 PM, featuring a light and sound symphony at 7:30 PM, and Sunday, September 13th from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM. Join us at the Pierre la Grosle parking lot in the Forêt de Chabrières, Guéret. The Grand Guéret Tourist Office has announced an entry fee of €5 for ages 5 and up, with free admission for children under 4.
This event is separate from Forêt Follies.
Practical information — Foret Follies
ℹ️ Festival discontinued. Forêt Follies has not been held since 2024. The Chabrières forest, located in the Guéret mountains, remains open to the public year-round with hiking trails and the nearby Loups de Chabrières park. In 2026, "Chabrières en fête" will take place there on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13, at the Pierre la Grosle parking lot. For information on events organized within this framework, please contact the Grand Guéret Tourist Office at 05 55 52 14 29.
ℹ️ Festival discontinued. Forêt Follies held its final edition in September 2024 after a 17-year run. In 2025, due to budget cuts (the event's approximately €90,000 budget was reduced by about 75%), the festival was replaced by a more modest event called "Chabrières en fête". The original Forêt Follies festival is no longer held.
A nature and crafts festival in the Chabrières forest
From 2008 to 2024, Forêt Follies took over the state-owned Chabrières forest—a vast 2,000-hectare woodland in the Guéret mountains—every September. For one weekend, the forest trails hosted a pop-up village featuring around a hundred stalls from designers and artisans, nature and environmental workshops, activity areas, and continuous live performances.
The event celebrated manual labor, traditional craftsmanship, and the beauty of the forest. Attracting between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors per edition, it was one of the major cultural and outdoor highlights in the Creuse region.
The end of an adventure
After 17 editions, the organizers announced that Forêt Follies would not return in 2025. Budgetary constraints and uncertainties, particularly regarding the weather, led to the abandonment of the historic format. Since then, the Chabrières forest has continued its September tradition under the name "Chabrières en fête," themed around the "Symphony of Colors": a free one-day event on September 14, 2025, followed by a two-day event in 2026 on Saturday, September 12, and Sunday, September 13. This is a separate event from Forêt Follies.
