Foret Follies

ℹ️ Festival discontinued. Forêt Follies held its last edition in September 2024, after 17 years of existence. In 2025, due to lack of resources (the event's budget, approximately €90,000, was reduced by about 75%), the festival gave way to a more modest event named « Chabrières en fête ». Forêt Follies, as it existed, is therefore no longer held.

A nature and craft festival in the Chabrières forest

From 2008 to 2024, Forêt Follies took over the Chabrières state forest every September, a vast 2,000-hectare massif located in the Guéret mountains. For a weekend, the forest paths hosted an ephemeral village: a hundred stands of creators and craftspeople, workshops focused on nature and the environment, entertainment areas, and continuous shows.

The event highlighted manual work, artisanal know-how, and the valorization of the forest. It gathered between 5,000 and 10,000 visitors per edition, making it one of the major cultural and outdoor events in Creuse.

The end of an adventure

After 17 editions, the organization announced that Forêt Follies would not be held in 2025. Budgetary constraints and uncertainty, particularly related to the weather, led to the abandonment of the historical format. In September 2025, a new celebration of the forest, « Chabrières en fête » — a lighter, one-day, and free event — took place in the same setting, on the theme of the « Symphony of Colors ». This new event, distinct from Forêt Follies, is supported by other actors and presented by its organizers as a transitional year.
