Franco-Quebecois laughter in the heart of the Pyrenees
Since 2012, Lourdes has hosted a unique humor festival that bridges French and Quebecois comedic traditions. The Franco-Quebecois Humor Festival, created on the initiative of Mayor Jean-Pierre Artiganave, aims to give a modern and festive image to the Pyrenean city.
The festival is organized in partnership with the National School of Humor of Quebec, ensuring the quality of the programming and the participation of talented Quebecois artists. The first edition, in July 2012, brought together 14 artists, including seven from Quebec, such as Les Nanas Coustiques, Adib Alkhalidey, Mario Jean, Olivier Martineau, and François Bellefeuille.
One of the festival's highlights is "La Battle", a competition pitting three Quebecois comedians against three French comedians before a jury of five professionals. This original and friendly format allows for the discovery of new talents and the comparison of humor styles from both sides of the Atlantic.
The festival has helped launch talents like Montreal comedian Adib Alkhalidey, winner of the first "La Battle" edition, who was noticed by several producers present in Lourdes.
The Franco-Quebecois Humor Festival returns to Lourdes in 2026. Program to be announced.
Lourdes (65100), Hautes-Pyrénées. Shows take place in various venues in the city.
