Festival of contemporary music and live performances in a perched village in the Lot
La Fête Perchée is a free festival of contemporary music and live performances that takes place every year in mid-August in the perched village of Calvignac, in the Lot. Organized by the Comité d'Animation de Calvignac, this four-day festive event offers eclectic concerts (rock, punk, Occitan music, electro), street theater, quirky olympiads, pétanque competitions, and rustic meals. Perched on its rocky spur overlooking the Lot valley, the village offers a spectacular setting for friendly outdoor evenings, from 7 PM to 3 AM.
La Fête Perchée gets its name from the exceptional setting in which it takes place: the village of Calvignac, perched on a rocky spur overlooking the Lot valley. A former fortified castrum of the viscounts of Quercy, this small village of character with its medieval alleys and 13th-century Saint-Étienne church is transformed each summer into an open-air place for celebration and music.
Organized by the Comité d'Animation de Calvignac (CAC), a non-profit association run by passionate volunteers, La Fête Perchée is an entirely free event that takes place over four days around the third weekend of August. The festival has grown over the years to become a must-attend event of the summer in the Lot, attracting festival-goers from all over the Occitanie region.
Each year, La Fête Perchée offers a rich program combining contemporary music and live performances. Rock, punk, Occitan music, reggae, French chanson, electro, and brass bands follow one another on the village square, offering free concert evenings from 7 PM to 3 AM.
Over the years, the festival has hosted renowned artists on its stage: HK & les Saltimbanks, Les Fatals Picards, Les Ramoneurs de Menhirs, Les Sales Majestés, Les Sheriff, Bob's Not Dead, Goulamas'K, La Talvera, El Gato Negro, Les Wampas, and The Locos (formerly Ska-P). This program skillfully blends national headliners and local bands, in a festive and accessible spirit for everyone.
La Fête Perchée is not just about evening concerts. The festival offers a varied program of entertainment throughout the weekend. The Jobard Games, quirky and wild olympiads open to 7-21 year olds, kick off the festivities on Friday afternoon. Street theater performances and shows for young audiences punctuate the afternoons. The traditional pétanque competitions, including the Coupe Marcel Sirvain, bring together experienced players and amateurs in a good-natured atmosphere.
The musical tapas aperitifs on Friday evening, hosted by acoustic artists, open the festival in a warm atmosphere. On Sunday, a gourmet craft market allows you to discover local producers from Quercy. The festival traditionally concludes on Monday with a rustic meal hosted by bands and DJs, punctuated by a confetti battle.
Located halfway between Cahors and Figeac, in the Pays d'Art et d'Histoire du Grand-Figeac, Calvignac is accessible in 30 to 45 minutes from the main towns in the Lot. The festival provides free parking, a campsite for festival-goers, a bar, and food stalls on site, with credit card payment accepted. La Fête Perchée embodies the spirit of village festivities in the Lot, where conviviality, generosity, and artistic quality combine in a remarkable heritage setting.
