Le Cinéma est dans le Pré
Rural open-air cinema festival in the villages of the Indrois valley
2026
About Le Ciné dans le Pré
Le Ciné dans le Pré — edition 2026
For its sixth edition, Le Cinéma est dans le Pré is doubling down: seven open-air film screenings instead of four, split into two sessions—three screenings from July 17 to 19, 2026, and four from August 6 to 9, 2026. Every evening at 9:00 PM, a massive 15 x 10-meter inflatable screen will be set up in castle grounds, by a pond, or on a flower-lined village green in Genillé, Le Liège, Céré-la-Ronde, Chédigny, Orbigny, and Chemillé-sur-Indrois. The lineup includes: "Les Lendemains de veille," "Le Papillon," "Les Folies fermières," "Fêlés," "Les Enfants du marais," "En fanfare!," and "Y'a pas de réseau."
Seven screenings and two new villages
The 2026 edition marks a significant expansion for the festival organized by the Les Pieds dans l'O association. While previous years were held over four consecutive nights in August, this year the event is split into two parts: a first weekend from Friday, July 17 to Sunday, July 19, followed by four nights from Thursday, August 6 to Sunday, August 9. Seven films will be shown instead of four, and two new municipalities have joined the circuit: Le Liège and Céré-la-Ronde, adding to the four historic villages of the Indrois valley: Genillé, Chédigny, Orbigny, and Chemillé-sur-Indrois.
Heritage and natural settings
The concept remains the same: bringing cinema to places that lack a theater, using unique village locations opened specifically for the occasion. The park of the Château de Genillé, a 13th-century fortress renovated in the 15th and 17th centuries, will host two of the seven screenings. The Domaine de La Bretèche, an 18th-century manor located two kilometers from the center of Orbigny, will open its grounds for "Les Enfants du marais." In Chédigny, a village famous for its roses and classified as a "Remarkable Garden," spectators will gather on the "Mail enchanté," a small, tree-filled park in the upper part of the village. The other three evenings will take place by the water or in the heart of the village: at the Marchais pond in Le Liège, the village hall park in Céré-la-Ronde, and the lake in Chemillé-sur-Indrois, right next to the leisure center.
Cinema telling stories of the countryside
The programming stays true to its roots: films that explore rural life, both past and present. The 2026 selection balances rediscovered classics with recent releases. For heritage cinema, we have Jean Becker's "Les Enfants du marais" (1999), starring Jacques Villeret, Jacques Gamblin, and André Dussollier, and Philippe Muyl's "Le Papillon" (2002), starring Michel Serrault. Regarding contemporary rural life, we feature Jean-Pierre Améris' "Les Folies fermières" (2021), about a young farmer in the Cantal region who starts a cabaret on his farm to save his business, and Loïc Paillard's "Les Lendemains de veille" (2021). Three recent films round out the program: "Fêlés" by Christophe Duthuron (2024) with Pierre Richard and Charlotte de Turckheim, "En fanfare!" by Emmanuel Courcol (2024) with Benjamin Lavernhe and Pierre Lottin, and the family comedy "Y'a pas de réseau" (2025), starring Gérard Jugnot.
An association, a giant screen, and local villages
Since 2021, the festival has been run by the Les Pieds dans l'O association, a non-profit organization founded on April 15, 2021, based at the Genillé town hall. Its mission is to promote cinema in rural areas and organize cultural events centered around film. Screenings are handled by a professional provider using a 15 x 10-meter inflatable screen, digital projection, and sound equipment adapted for open-air spaces. The festival is supported by the host municipalities, the Loches Sud Touraine community of communes, the Indre-et-Loire Departmental Council, and the Centre-Val de Loire Region, as well as about thirty local businesses and shops.
In case of rain
Every evening has an indoor backup plan. Screenings in Genillé and Chédigny will move to the Espace Rosine-Deréan in Genillé; the Le Liège screening will move to the Genillé village hall; and the Chemillé-sur-Indrois screening will move to the Orbigny village hall—in both cases, using a 4 x 5-meter screen with Dolby Digital sound.

Practical information
Where the festival takes place
Screenings are spread across several municipalities in the Indrois valley, in the southeast of Indre-et-Loire: Genillé (castle park), Chédigny (the Mail enchanté), Orbigny (La Bretèche estate), Chemillé-sur-Indrois (lake), Le Liège (Marchais pond), and Céré-la-Ronde (village hall park). Access by car is recommended, as the area is not served by public transport in the evening.
Parking
In Genillé, cars are not allowed in the castle park, but there is plenty of parking in the village center. In Chédigny, the parking lot near the Mail enchanté has only a few spaces; it is possible to park along the Indrois river at the entrance to the village. In Orbigny, a parking lot welcomes spectators fifty meters from the castle. In Chemillé-sur-Indrois, the leisure center has its own easily accessible parking lot.
Times
All screenings start at 9:00 PM.
Prices and booking
€5 per screening, free for children under 12. Passes are available to attend all screenings in a single sequence for €10. Tickets and passes can be purchased in advance online via the association's ticketing site or by ordering via email.
In case of rain

Cinema under the stars in the villages of Touraine
Le Cinéma est dans le Pré is a rural open-air film festival born in 2021 at the initiative of the Les Pieds dans l'O association. Every summer, it sets up its giant screen in the villages of the Indrois valley, east of Loches, to offer open-air screenings in carefully selected natural and heritage settings. The concept is simple: bring cinema to places without a theater, relying on local municipalities, associations, and volunteers from the region.
Villages, parks, and waterfronts
The festival moves from town to town, each offering a unique backdrop for the evening screening:
- Genillé: the castle park, a 13th-century fortress remodeled in the 15th and 17th centuries, a private property opened for the occasion—cars are not permitted inside the park.
- Chédigny: the Mail enchanté, a small tree-lined and flowery park at the top of the village, reflecting the character of this rose-filled village classified as a "Remarkable Garden."
- Orbigny: the La Bretèche estate, an 18th-century manor located two kilometers from the center, with parking fifty meters from the castle.
- Chemillé-sur-Indrois: the lake, bordering the leisure center and its beach, which has its own parking area.
- Le Liège: the Marchais pond, near the heart of the village (since 2026).
- Céré-la-Ronde: the village hall park (since 2026).
A program focused on rural life
The selection highlights feature films related to country life: agriculture, nature, heritage, village life, and landscapes. It alternates between rediscovering French cinema classics and recent releases, with a special place for popular comedies and regional films. Screenings start at 9:00 PM, at dusk, on a 15 x 10-meter inflatable screen with digital projection and sound systems adapted for open spaces. Every evening has a backup indoor venue in case of rain.
An association rooted in its territory
The Les Pieds dans l'O association, a non-profit organization created on April 15, 2021, and chaired by Christophe Meunier, aims to promote cinema in rural areas and organize cultural events centered around film. Its registered office is located at the Genillé town hall, 1 place Agnès-Sorel. The festival is supported by the host municipalities, the Loches Sud Touraine community of communes, the Indre-et-Loire Departmental Council, and the Centre-Val de Loire Region, as well as about thirty local businesses and shops. It offers an alternative to traditional cinema, placing the 7th art at the heart of the villages and the Touraine countryside.
