A fantastic festival in the heart of a Champagne castle

Since 2015, the festival Le Dormantastique transforms the park of Dormans Castle into a fantastic and imaginary universe every summer. Driven by La Guilde Dormaniste, an association of enthusiasts, this free festival blends literature, fantasy, science fiction, medieval fantasy, and geek culture in an exceptional heritage setting, on the banks of the Marne.

Quirky and creative themes

Each edition of Le Dormantastique adopts an original theme, often centered around the carrot, the festival's quirky mascot. Tome X (2025) was titled "No Mercy for Carrot Ball Z," while Tome XI (2026) dives into the futuristic universe of "Carrot Player One." These humorous themes set the tone for a festival that doesn't take itself too seriously while offering a quality program.

Authors, artisans, and artists

The Le Dormantastique program brings together authors and illustrators of fantasy, science fiction, and imaginary genres for signing sessions and public meet-and-greets. An artisan market offers jewelry, decorative items, costumes, and accessories created by artisans specializing in the fantasy universe. Concerts spanning different musical eras liven up the two days.

Cosplay, games, and demonstrations

The festival features a cosplay contest that attracts costumed participants from all over the region, retrogaming and contemporary games, as well as fencing demonstrations by the Quinte Septime company. The festive and family-friendly atmosphere is enhanced by an on-site bar and food area.

An exceptional heritage setting

The Dormans Castle and its park provide an ideal setting for a festival dedicated to the imagination. Overlooking the Marne Valley and the Champagne vineyards, this historic site welcomes visitors in a green and picturesque environment, halfway between Épernay and Château-Thierry.
