An exceptional trail in the Norman Seine valley
The Trail des Rois Maudits (TRM) has become in a few editions one of the most popular trails in Normandy. Organized every year at the end of September by the association Sports Nature Organisation, this major sporting event takes place in the Seine valley between Romilly-sur-Andelle and Les Andelys, in the Eure department. The routes follow the technical trails that wind along the chalky cliffs, offering runners spectacular panoramas of the Seine's meanders and an unforgettable finish at the foot of the mythical Château-Gaillard.
Four courses for all levels
The TRM offers four distances adapted to all types of trail runners: the TRM 60 (60 km, 2,500 m D+), the main event which crosses the Seine valley from Romilly-sur-Andelle to Les Andelys, starting at 7:30 am; the TRM 41 (41 km, 1,800 m D+) starting at 8 am; the TRM 27 (28 km, 1,100 m D+) starting at 8:30 am; and the TRM 13 (13 km, 550 m D+) starting at 9 am, ideal for beginners and nature running enthusiasts. All races are ITRA certified and are UTMB Index events, attracting trail runners from all over France.
A name steeped in history
The name of the trail refers to the Cursed Kings, the famous saga by Maurice Druon which evokes the last Capetians and the curse of the Templars. Les Andelys and its fortress of Château-Gaillard, the scene of medieval battles between the Plantagenets and the Capetians, offer a historical setting perfectly consistent with this theme. The finish line for all races at the Château-Gaillard parking lot reinforces the link between sporting effort and Norman heritage. The start-finish village offers refreshments, entertainment, and an awards ceremony in a friendly atmosphere.
