Eclectic, ethical, and human festival in Cherbourg
Created in 1999 in Martinvast as a festive and family day, the Les Art'Zimutés festival has been held since 2015 on the Plage Verte in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. Now a must-attend event for contemporary music in Normandy, the festival offers four days of entertainment and concerts every year at the end of June in an eclectic, ethical, and human spirit. Committed to the environment and sustainable development since 2010, Les Art'Zimutés combines an eclectic musical program, days dedicated to young audiences and amateurs, and ecological awareness.
The adventure of Les Art'Zimutés began in 1999 in Martinvast, as a festive and family day organized by a handful of enthusiasts. The festival grew with each edition, briefly settling in Tourlaville in the dunes of Collignon in 2014, before finding its home on the Plage Verte in Cherbourg-en-Cotentin in 2015.
The festival spans four days with a structured program:
The Les Art'Zimutés program is as its name suggests: eclectic and bold. Rock, French chanson, reggae, electro, hip-hop, world music: the festival offers a broad panorama of contemporary music, mixing established artists and emerging talents. Artists like Manu Chao, La Rue Kétanou, Les Ogres de Barback, and many others have marked the festival's history.
Since 2010, Les Art'Zimutés has embraced the concept of an eco-event. The festival implements numerous concrete actions to reduce its environmental impact: waste management, reusable cups, dry toilets, renewable energy, public awareness of ecological issues, and partnerships with environmental associations.
The festival defines itself as "eclectic, ethical, and human". This motto guides the entire organization: affordable pricing, reception for people with disabilities, promotion of the social and solidarity economy, and strong associative commitment with a network of dedicated volunteers.
Since 2015, the festival has been held at the Plage Verte, a vast green space by the sea in the heart of Cherbourg-en-Cotentin. This site offers a pleasant and easily accessible setting, allowing the festival to provide a complete experience with concerts, activities, food, and relaxation in a green environment facing the sea.
