Jazz and world music festival organized every summer in the enchanting setting of the Abbaye de la Clarté-Dieu in Saint-Paterne-Racan. Les Clartés Musicales is a music festival nestled in the exceptional setting of the Abbaye de la Clarté-Dieu, a former 13th-century Cistercian abbey located in Saint-Paterne-Racan, in Indre-et-Loire. Since its creation in 2017, this summer event invites the public to discover jazz, world music, and contemporary music artists in a place steeped in history and spirituality.
The Abbaye de la Clarté-Dieu, founded in 1239, offers a remarkable acoustic and visual setting for music. Classified as a historic monument, it is located in the heart of the Escotais valley, in a preserved natural environment. The concerts take place outdoors or in the conventual buildings, creating an intimate and contemplative atmosphere that enhances the artists' performances.
Each edition of Les Clartés Musicales offers a carefully selected program, mixing jazz, world music, blues, and contemporary music. Over the years, the festival has hosted various ensembles, from gypsy jazz trios to Balkan music groups, as well as American blues artists and French chanson singers.
Les Clartés Musicales is not limited to music: each evening begins with a tasting of natural wines from 4 p.m., followed by concerts at 8:30 p.m. On-site, the public can enjoy local craft beers and catering made with organic and local products. This combination of music, gastronomy, and heritage makes each edition a unique moment of sharing.
Supported by the association Les Clartés Musicales in partnership with Les Amis de la Clarté-Dieu, the festival actively participates in the enhancement of the heritage of the commune of Saint-Paterne-Racan and the north of Touraine. The event contributes to the cultural and tourist influence of this little-known part of Indre-et-Loire, between the Loire Valley and the Gâtine tourangelle.
