Les Correspondances Gravées

A unique international print exchange

Les Correspondances Gravées is a singular artistic event that brings together around a hundred engravers from around the world each year for a postal exchange project of prints. The principle is simple and poetic: engraved works circulate from artist to artist by mail, each adding their contribution to the whole. At the end of their journey, these collective works are gathered and exhibited during the festival in Inzinzac-Lochrist.

The art of engraving in focus

The event celebrates the art of printmaking in all its forms: woodcut, linocut, etching, drypoint, lithography, screen printing, and mixed techniques. The exhibition of the engraved correspondences offers a fascinating panorama of the styles and techniques practiced by the participating artists, reflecting the diversity of approaches and sensitivities worldwide.

Exhibition and workshops in Inzinzac-Lochrist

The festival takes place in Inzinzac-Lochrist, a commune in Morbihan located on the banks of the Blavet river, known for its industrial heritage (former forges of Hennebont) and its cultural dynamism. The exhibition of the engraved correspondences is the heart of the event, complemented by engraving workshops open to the public, printing technique demonstrations, and meetings with artists.

An international artistic network

Over the editions, Les Correspondances Gravées has built an international network of engravers spread across several continents. This postal exchange of original works creates lasting links between artists from different cultures and traditions, united by a common passion for printmaking. The festival thus contributes to the influence of contemporary engraving and the circulation of works beyond borders.

A commitment to transmission

The event places great importance on cultural mediation and the transmission of know-how. The engraving workshops allow visitors to discover different techniques, from linocut to etching, under the guidance of experienced artists. Interventions in schools are also organized before the festival, introducing younger generations to the art of printmaking.
