Historic gastronomic festival of Bordeaux (1995-2019) — event discontinued by the city council
There is no edition scheduled in 2026 for this event. This page remains accessible to archive the history of the manifestation and will be updated if a new edition is announced.
Les Épicuriales was Bordeaux's major gastronomic event, held every June on the elegant allées de Tourny, in the heart of the city center. For nearly twenty-five years, about twenty ephemeral restaurants offered affordable lunch menus and gourmet tables signed by Michelin-starred chefs in the evening. The last documented edition on the allées de Tourny was the 24th edition in June 2019, which gathered over 400,000 visitors in eighteen days. The event was discontinued by the Bordeaux city council in 2022, due to a lack of agreement with the organizing association on the format and conditions of installation on public land.
ℹ️ Event discontinued. Les Épicuriales, Bordeaux's emblematic gastronomic festival, has not been organized on the allées de Tourny since 2019. The Bordeaux city council, under the mandate of Pierre Hurmic (elected in 2020), officially decided in 2022 not to renew the authorization for public land occupation for this event, following a disagreement with the organizing association La Ronde des Quartiers (since renamed Bordeaux Mon Commerce) regarding the format, accessibility for restaurateurs, and the ecological dimension of the event. The city council announced its intention to propose other gastronomic events as replacements, notably the Bordeaux Wine Week.
Les Épicuriales was an emblematic gastronomic event in Bordeaux that transformed the allées de Tourny into a vast open-air restaurant for two weeks in June. About twenty restaurateurs offered their specialties in a festive and friendly atmosphere, with considerable popular success: the 24th edition in June 2019 welcomed over 400,000 visitors over eighteen days.
At lunchtime, restaurants offered lunch menus at 15€ served in less than an hour. In the evening, the Étoiles d'Épicure honored Michelin-starred chefs from Aquitaine who opened ephemeral gourmet restaurants, accompanied by a Bordeaux wine list.
The allées de Tourny, with their century-old lime trees and classic Bordeaux architecture, offered an elegant and shaded setting for this open-air festival. The hectare dedicated to gastronomy became, for two weeks, the beating heart of Bordeaux life.
After the cancellations of 2020 and 2021 due to the health crisis, the Bordeaux municipality refused in 2022 to renew Les Épicuriales on the allées de Tourny, reproaching the organizing association for not having sufficiently evolved the event's format (ecological issues, accessibility for all restaurateurs, prices deemed too high). The historical organizer La Ronde des Quartiers, which became Bordeaux Mon Commerce, attempted a new formula in September 2022 in the form of gourmet strolls in several partner restaurants in the city, but this formula was not renewed in subsequent years. No edition has since been announced on the allées de Tourny nor in a lasting alternative form. The city council has favored other gastronomic events, notably the Bordeaux Wine Week and Bordeaux Fête le Vin.
ℹ️ 2026 edition cancelled — event discontinued. Les Épicuriales have not been held in Bordeaux since 2019. Bordeaux City Hall refused in 2022 to renew the authorization for occupying the allées de Tourny for this gastronomic festival, and no edition has since been announced or confirmed.
ℹ️ No 2026 edition. No edition of Les Épicuriales is scheduled in Bordeaux in June 2026, neither on the allées de Tourny nor in a permanent alternative form. The event, historically organized by the association La Ronde des Quartiers (which became Bordeaux Mon Commerce), stopped following a disagreement with Bordeaux City Hall in 2022 concerning the format, accessibility for restaurateurs, and the ecological dimension. The last documented edition on the allées de Tourny was the 24th edition in June 2019 (400,000 visitors over eighteen days). An attempt to revive it in the form of gourmet strolls was launched in September 2022 in several partner restaurants, but it was not renewed. To discover Bordeaux gastronomy, the City Hall has favored other events such as the Bordeaux Wine Week and the Bordeaux Fête le Vin.
