Festival of festive and dance music
There is no edition scheduled in 2026 for this event. This page remains accessible to archive the history of the manifestation and will be updated if a new edition is announced.
Every August, Le Creusot's Esplanade Duchêne transforms into a musical stopover where sounds from around the world meet. Les Folles Escales, a festival of festive and dance music, offers two evenings of concerts under a big top and in the open air, featuring cumbia, afrobeat, electro, rai, gypsy jazz, and oriental fusions in a popular festive atmosphere.
Les Folles Escales aims to be a space for discovery where musical genres intersect and artists engage with an audience curious about new sounds. Each evening features three consecutive concerts, from early evening until nightfall, creating a festive crescendo that invites dancing and sharing.
The programming of Les Folles Escales highlights musical groups that blend traditions: afro-jazz brass bands mixing Mandinka instruments and brass, quartets fusing flamenco, Greek bouzouki, and Spanish vocals, oriental DJs crossing house music and Arabic music, North African fusion orchestras, and Malagasy artists at the crossroads of electronic and traditional music.
Les Folles Escales is part of the Les Beaux Bagages program, Le Creusot's summer cultural season which begins in July with the street arts festival Les Rugissantes. The two festivals, supported by the City of Le Creusot, form a complementary diptych: performing arts on one side, world music on the other.
True to its motto — atmosphere, friendliness, and sharing — the festival hosts food trucks and local restaurateurs offering a culinary selection as diverse as the musical programming. Gardens, public squares, and historic buildings in Le Creusot are transformed into ephemeral stages where music resonates until the end of the night.
ℹ️ 2026 edition cancelled. During the municipal budget vote (municipal council of April 28, 2026), the City of Creusot confirmed the cancellation of the two world music evenings of Les Folles Escales, which represented a budget of €90,000. Mayor Charles Landre indicated that they would be replaced by «two or three other shows» of a different format, for a lower cost. Therefore, there is no 2026 edition of Les Folles Escales in its usual form; Creusot's 2026 summer program was to be presented in June 2026.
Les Folles Escales was Creusot's festival of festive and dancing world music, organized on the Esplanade Duchêne at the end of August by the Les Beaux Bagages association with the City of Creusot (cumbia, afrobeat, raï, electro…). The last documented edition took place on August 22 and 23, 2025.
During the 2026 municipal budget vote (council of April 28, 2026), the City announced the cancellation of the two world music evenings of Les Folles Escales (budget of €90,000), replaced by two or three other shows of a different nature.
