A theater festival since 1991
Les Théâtrales de Collonges-la-Rouge were created in 1991 with the aim of combining heritage and culture in one of the most beautiful villages in France. Every summer, from mid-July to mid-August, the festival offers six open-air theater performances, every Tuesday evening at 9:30 PM. The Place du Lavoir, in the heart of the medieval village with its red sandstone facades, becomes the intimate and majestic setting for these theatrical evenings, offering spectators an unforgettable cultural experience.
Comedies for all audiences in a green theater
The programming of the Théâtrales favors comedies from the classical repertoire (Molière, Feydeau, Courteline) and contemporary theater, accessible to all audiences, from families to seasoned theater lovers. The invited professional and semi-professional companies offer dynamic and inventive productions, adapted to the open-air setting. The green theater of the Place du Lavoir, with its reduced capacity, promotes proximity between actors and spectators, creating a warm and friendly atmosphere.
Collonges-la-Rouge, a red sandstone setting
Collonges-la-Rouge is an exceptional medieval village, listed as one of the Most Beautiful Villages of France. Its houses and buildings built in red sandstone give it a unique visual identity and a special atmosphere. The village has 500 inhabitants and no less than 25 historical monuments over 1.8 km². The Théâtrales allow visitors to discover or rediscover this remarkable architectural heritage, attracting approximately 700,000 visitors to the village each year and contributing to its cultural and tourist influence.
An open-air cultural season
Les Théâtrales de Collonges-la-Rouge are part of the summer cultural dynamic of Corrèze and the Dordogne Valley. The festival is organized by a dedicated association, with the support of the municipality and local authorities. Performances are accessible by reservation (telephone and online ticketing), with affordable prices to encourage access to culture in rural areas. The exceptional setting of the village and the quality of the performances make the Théâtrales a must-attend event of the summer in Corrèze.
