Franco-German festival of art and music in Sarreguemines
The festival Lust in Sarreguemines — 'Lust' meaning 'desire, pleasure' in German — embodies the cross-border spirit of this Moselle town located on the Franco-German border. Supported by the Collectif pour un Service Civique Européen, this cultural event aims to promote young talents and foster artistic exchanges between both sides of the Rhine.
The strength of Lust in Sarreguemines lies in the diversity of its program, which is entirely free. Over several weeks, the festival offers a selection of cultural events: concerts of pop, rock, rap, and electronic music, contemporary dance performances, short film screenings, stand-up comedy and humor nights, artistic performances, and exhibitions in various locations throughout the city.
Concerts are the beating heart of the festival. Emerging French and German artists perform in various venues in Sarreguemines, from concert halls to outdoor spaces. The musical program is intentionally eclectic, reflecting the diversity of tastes and cultures of Franco-German youth. Artists from Hamburg, Berlin, Strasbourg, and Metz share the stages in a spirit of mutual discovery.
Beyond music, Lust in Sarreguemines gives pride of place to visual arts and performing arts. Contemporary art exhibitions take over galleries and public spaces in the city, while dance performances and street shows animate squares and streets. Short film screenings provide a platform for young filmmakers from the cross-border region.
With approximately 4,500 participants in recent editions, Lust in Sarreguemines has successfully created a loyal community of art and music lovers. The festival has become an anticipated event of the Sarreguemines spring, contributing to the cultural vibrancy of the city and strengthening Franco-German ties in the daily lives of its residents.
Sarreguemines, known for its faience heritage and strategic location on the border, is fertile ground for this type of cross-border cultural initiative. The festival is part of a rich cultural season supported by the municipality, which uses culture as a lever for the city's development and attractiveness.
5th edition of the Franco-German art and music festival Lust in Sarreguemines, organized from May 7 to 22, 2026 by the Collective for a European Civic Service (CSCE) with the support of the City of Sarreguemines. Two weeks of free events in the city center and partner cultural venues: concerts, stand-up, open-air exhibition, opening night, language workshop, and festive closing. The 2026 edition is part of the theme of Europe, in connection with Europe Day and the commemoration of the end of World War II.
For its 5th anniversary, the Lust in Sarreguemines festival chose to place Europe at the heart of its 2026 program, in resonance with Europe Day (May 9) and the commemoration of the end of World War II. This edition also saw the launch of the youth center project in Sarreguemines, scheduled for September 2026, which will welcome about a hundred young Europeans each year.
The festival opened on Thursday, May 7 at 7 PM on the City Hall stage in Sarreguemines with a gala combining concerts and stand-up. The evening notably featured Teresa Minnillo (Italian guitarist and singer, winner of the Grand Prize of the Italian National Conservatory) with a journey through traditional Italian song, the poetic musical show «Jean sans terre», the melodic pop of Julie Castaing (piano/guitar) and the stand-up of Cyrielle Knoepfel. A public speaking competition on European issues was also organized at the Jean de Pange high school, initiated by Divine Mama Yari, a member of the collective.
Beyond the opening night, the 2026 edition unfolded an eclectic program in several venues in the city center: intimate concerts at Strada Café, Folk-bluegrass at the community media library, language café at Le Repaire d'Arkham, open-air art exhibition «Plafond» which questioned our perception of everyday life, open-air day «Lust & Sun» on the Casino Esplanade (music, food, salsa and bachata initiations) and DJ closing night at V and B.
The festival is led by the Collective for a European Civic Service (CSCE), chaired by Benjamin Sibille, in partnership with the City of Sarreguemines and European co-financing. As Benjamin Sibille reminds us, «music is one of the art forms that inspires all others». The 2026 edition welcomed young people in European civic service hosted by the collective, who actively participated in the organization and programming.
