About Maintenon/Pierres Japan Festival
Every year in Eure-et-Loir, the Japan Festival in Maintenon/Pierres brings together demonstrations and introductory sessions for Japanese and Asian martial arts, alongside exhibitions and workshops centered on Japanese culture. The event is hosted by the ESMP aikido and karate clubs in Pierres, a town bordering Maintenon.
Each edition highlights a guest country: South Korea in 2024 and Vietnam in 2026. The weekend features around thirty martial arts disciplines, a fair for artisans and illustrators, a wellness area, and a selection of Asian cuisine.
Maintenon/Pierres Japan Festival — edition 2026
The 4th edition takes place on September 19th and 20th, 2026, at 41 rue René et Jean Lefèvre in Pierres. Vietnam is this year's guest of honor, showcasing its traditions, craftsmanship, and cultural heritage through various activities and meet-and-greets. Over thirty martial arts disciplines will be featured, with demonstrations and introductory sessions ranging from kendo and taekwondo to wing chun.
Programme Maintenon/Pierres Japan Festival 2026
Saturday, September 19th, 2026
- 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM — Martial arts demonstrations and workshops: kendo, jodo, Korean sword, iaido, wing chun, taekwondo, capoeira, and around thirty other disciplines
- 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM — Artisan and illustrator fair, wellness area (shiatsu, reiki, reflexology), and cultural workshops (tea ceremony, ikebana, origami)
- 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM — Activities and cultural exchanges celebrating Vietnam, our guest country
- 7:00 PM – 10:00 PM — Evening martial arts showcase
Sunday, September 20th, 2026
- 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM — Martial arts demonstrations and workshops, artisan fair, wellness area, and cultural workshops
- 10:00 AM – 5:00 PM — Traditional games area and Japanese, Korean, and Vietnamese food stalls
The organizer has not released a detailed schedule for the demonstrations beyond these time slots.
