Journey to the heart of the Middle Ages in the fortified city of Hennebont
Since 1996, the Medieval Festival of Hennebont immerses the fortified city in the atmosphere of the Middle Ages. This historical event, celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2026, has become over the years one of the largest medieval events in Brittany.
For two days in July, the town center and the Poterie site are transformed into a true medieval village. The program is dense and varied:
The highlight of each day, the grand parade starts at 11 am from the basilica and crosses the town center to the Blavet. All participants – knights, ladies, musicians, jugglers, and artisans – parade joyfully, marking the opening of the festivities.
The town of Hennebont provides an exceptional natural setting for these festivities, with its 13th-century ramparts, its Porte Broërec, its Notre-Dame-de-Paradis basilica, and the banks of the Blavet river. The authenticity of the setting enhances the immersion in the medieval world and offers visitors a unique historical and festive experience.
The Medieval Festival of Hennebont relies on the commitment of over 200 volunteers and costumed actors who contribute to the entertainment and organization of the event. This participatory and associative dimension makes the festival a moment of social cohesion and local pride.
The Hennebont Medieval Festivals celebrate their 30th anniversary on July 25th and 26th, 2026. For two days, the fortified city center and the Poterie site transform into a medieval village: a large artisan market, costumed parades, chivalry tournaments, a medieval camp, street shows, a concert, and a medieval ball.
In 2026, the Hennebont Medieval Festivals celebrate their 30th edition. The fortified city of Morbihan plunges back into the Middle Ages for a weekend, between the historic city center and the Poterie site, with an enriched program to mark the event's anniversary.
The heart of the festival unfolds in Hennebont city center, around the basilica and the ramparts. The Poterie site, meanwhile, hosts a medieval village with a hundred exhibitors, as well as a concert and the grand ball on Saturday evening.
More than 120 artisans and exhibitors present their creations along the route. Jugglers, actors, dancers, musicians, singers, and fire-eaters animate the streets, while reenactment companies offer chivalry tournaments, a medieval camp with archers and mercenaries, and historical demonstrations.
Detailed hour-by-hour program and online ticketing (tournaments, camp, concert, meals) to be announced on the official website.
