Local history book fair under the medieval hall of Mirepoix
Since 1998, the Mirenpages fair has brought together, every first Sunday of July, over 80 authors, publishers, and associations under the monumental hall and the medieval arcades of Place Marechal Leclerc in Mirepoix. This book fair, whose name evokes the historical pages of the town, is dedicated to the local history and heritage of Ariege, the Cathar Pyrenees region, and more broadly the South of France, while also embracing literature of all genres.
The fair hosts local and regional authors, specialized publishers, heritage associations, and learned societies who present their works, share their research, and interact with the public. The history of Catharism, bastides, rural Ariege, the Pyrenees, Occitanie, and its famous figures are featured alongside contemporary literature, novels, poetry, and comics, in a warm and scholarly atmosphere.
The setting of the bastide of Mirepoix, founded in 1289, with its half-timbered houses, its 19th-century market hall, and its medieval arcades, provides an ideal backdrop for this book and history event. Visitors can stroll among the stands, attend book signings, participate in conferences and round tables, while enjoying the lively atmosphere of the square and the weekly market held on the same day.
Mirenpages is a completely free event, open to all audiences, from local history enthusiasts to the simply curious, from avid readers to Sunday strollers. The fair contributes to the cultural and intellectual life of the town, perpetuating the tradition of a lively Mirepoix focused on culture and heritage.
The 29th edition of Mirenpages, the Mirepoix Local History Book Fair, will be held on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 6 PM under the market hall and covered walkways of Place Marechal Leclerc, in Ariege. Around fifty authors, publishers, and second-hand booksellers will offer their works dedicated to local history, heritage, and literature of all genres. Free entry.
The Mirenpages fair returns for its 29th edition on Sunday, July 5, 2026, from 9:30 AM to 6 PM, under the monumental market hall and medieval covered walkways of Place Marechal Leclerc in Mirepoix. Organized by the Association Mirenpages, this event brings together around fifty authors under the market hall as well as second-hand booksellers set up under the arcades.
All literary genres are represented, with a particular emphasis on the local proximity between authors and their works: history of Ariege and the Cathar Pyrenees region, heritage, novels, regional stories. The public can interact with authors during book signings in a friendly atmosphere.
As every year, the fair awards two prizes presented by a jury: a local history prize and a fiction prize. The event, entirely free, coincides with the weekly market that enlivens the medieval bastide on the same day.
The fair takes place under the hall and arcades of Place Marechal Leclerc in Mirepoix (09500), on the first Sunday of July.
