About Moustival

The Moustival was a free contemporary music festival created in 2008 by the Rockenberry association. It was held every first weekend of September in the Saint-Sulpice clearing in Vendœuvres, in the heart of the Brenne Regional Natural Park (Indre). For two days, about ten bands performed on stage in a forest setting, with an eclectic program mixing rock, punk, folk, ska, and French chanson, with free admission and free camping. The festival no longer seems to be held today: the last publicly documented edition dates back to the late 2010s.

ℹ️ Festival discontinued. The Moustival no longer seems to be held currently. The last publicly documented edition dates back to the late 2010s (the festival celebrated its 10th edition around 2017); at the time of our editorial verification (June 2026), no public source — official website, town hall, tourist office, local press — announces a new edition. The official festival website is no longer online. We keep this page as an archive; if a new edition were to be organized, please do not hesitate to inform us via the modification form.

A Free Festival in the Heart of the Brenne

The Moustival was a contemporary music festival that took place every first weekend of September in the Saint-Sulpice clearing in Vendœuvres, a commune located in the Brenne Regional Natural Park, in the Indre department. Created in September 2008 by the Rockenberry association, this festival was designed to promote local musical groups and enrich the musical landscape of the department.

Two Days of Eclectic Music

The Moustival offered a rich and varied program mixing rock, punk, folk, ska, traditional music, and French chanson. For two days, about ten bands performed successively on the stage set up in the middle of the clearing, offering an eclectic panorama of contemporary music. The festival made it a point of honor to program regional groups alongside more established acts, thus creating a space for musical discovery and sharing. Concerts began at 7:30 PM and continued into the night.

A Festive and Associative Spirit

Driven by a team of passionate volunteers from the Rockenberry association, the Moustival embodied the spirit of rural associative festivals: free admission, a warm and friendly atmosphere, on-site catering, and free camping accessible only on foot. The festival had a catering area, a bar, snack stands, toilets, and various exhibitors offering crafts and exhibitions. The event was open to all audiences and all generations.

An Exceptional Natural Setting

The Saint-Sulpice clearing offered a magnificent natural setting to host this festival. Nestled in a green setting in the commune of Vendœuvres, this forest clearing created an intimate and magical atmosphere, far from urban hustle and bustle. The site is also known for its miraculous fountain and its centuries-old pilgrimage site, adding a heritage dimension to the place. For about ten editions, the Moustival contributed to the cultural animation of the Brenne territory and attracted a loyal audience who came to celebrate music in a rural and preserved setting.
