The Muses en Îles Festival is a young music festival that has quickly established itself as a must-attend summer event in Royère-de-Vassivière. Born in 2022 with a first Christmas concert in the Saint-Germain Church, the festival's mission is to make Royère a reference musical destination, placing singing at the heart of its programming.
Daily master class and concerts
Each edition features a singing master class led by renowned artists, offering young talents excellent training. In parallel, a concert every evening is scheduled in various locations — church, marquee, open-air, market — allowing for a mix of musical genres and audiences. Recitals by previous years' laureates, the « Musicales du Picq » (a springboard for young talents), and the closing concert with public voting to elect the laureate punctuate the week.
A cultural ambition for the region
Supported by a passionate team, Muses en Îles contributes to the cultural influence of the Millevaches plateau and the Vassivière lake. The festival attracts an audience of both discerning music lovers and the curious, in a friendly atmosphere typical of the Creuse region. The diversity of concert venues and musical genres offered makes each edition a unique experience.
Muses en Îles — edition 2026
4th edition of the Festival Muses en Îles, from July 27 to August 4, 2026 in Pays de Vassivière (Royère-de-Vassivière, Creuse). A whole week dedicated to lyrical singing and the voice in all its forms: a concert every evening (most at Église Saint-Germain), a singing master class, the young talents concert "Musique en l'air" and a pastoral closing concert. Almost all concerts are "free price".
The 2026 edition of the Festival Muses en Îles takes place from Monday, July 27 to Tuesday, August 4, 2026 in Royère-de-Vassivière and in the Pays de Vassivière. This 4th edition offers a concert every evening, mainly at Église Saint-Germain, as well as a singing master class and several outdoor events.
A highlight of the week, the singing master class is led by Anne-Margueritte Werster, artist from the Opéra de Paris: 10 participants, 5 days of vocal work accompanied by piano and a "Muses en Class'" restitution concert with the election of a laureate by the public. The festival also gives pride of place to young talents with the "Musique en l'air" event at Gîte des Charmilles, and concludes with a pastoral concert, "Le Souffle du Berger", preceded by a walk and a tasting of local products.
