Every June 21, Carcassonne celebrates the Fête de la Musique (Music Festival): free open-air concerts in the Bastide Saint-Louis and the Medieval City, in the squares and streets of the city center. The Fête de la Musique in Carcassonne

As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the center of Carcassonne into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces, from early evening until late at night, in all genres and for all audiences.

A festival between the Bastide and the City

Typically, the festival unfolds in several emblematic locations in the city: Place Carnot, in the heart of the Bastide Saint-Louis, hosts a stage where artists perform in the early evening; the surroundings of the Hôtel de Rolland bring together city ensembles such as the Municipal Harmony Orchestra and the Carcassonne Choirs; while Place Marcou, in the Medieval City, extends the evening in a unique setting at the foot of the ramparts.
