About Music Festival in Castres
Every June 21, Castres celebrates the Fête de la Musique: the City opens its streets and squares to amateur musicians as well as confirmed artists, who play for free outdoors, on the terraces of bars and restaurants in the historic center. Organized by the City of Castres, the day is entirely free and makes room for all styles: rock, classical music, pop, world music.
The Fête de la Musique in Castres
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the city of Castres into an open-air stage every June 21. On the occasion of the summer solstice, music freely takes over public spaces: amateur musicians, singers, bands, and orchestras perform in the streets, squares, and on terraces, for the enjoyment of strollers and music lovers.
A celebration throughout the city center
Usually, the City of Castres opens its streets and squares to musicians, who set up outdoors or in front of the bars and restaurants in the heart of the city, along the banks of the Agout. All genres coexist without hierarchy — rock, classical music, pop, world music — for a festive and popular evening in the heart of the Tarn.
