Every June 21, Orléans celebrates the Fête de la Musique: amateur musicians, music school students, and professional artists play for free in the streets, squares, and terraces of the city center. Organized by the Ville d'Orléans, the evening is entirely free, marked by spontaneity, and the entire city transforms into an open-air stage until late into the night.

The 2026 Fête de la Musique in Orléans takes place on Sunday, June 21st, with free events throughout the city center. The city has opted for spontaneity: there are no main stages or official schedules, but rather amateur and professional musicians setting up freely in the streets of the historic center from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM. Alongside this open-air stage, there are around twenty featured events: the Conservatoire's guinguette at Parc Louis-Pasteur until 8:30 PM, a free symphonic concert by Les Violons d'Ingres at the MAM at 4:00 PM, klezmer music at the Cercil at 5:00 PM, a musical tram car with a live DJ on Line A, and bar concerts lasting late into the night, with terraces remaining open until 2:00 AM.
A festival without a main stage, by design
In Orléans, the Fête de la Musique is not built around a municipal program. The city allows musicians, both amateur and professional, to perform freely and voluntarily throughout the historic center: everyone chooses their own street corner, square, or terrace. As a result, the evening of June 21st is best discovered on foot, wandering between Place du Martroi, Le Châtelet, Place de l'Étape, the area around the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix, and the pedestrian streets of the Bourgogne district, with the freedom to move from one improvised stage to the next.

Practical Information
- When: Sunday, June 21st, 2026. Musicians are free to set up in the historic center from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM; festivities start in the afternoon at Parc Louis-Pasteur (Conservatoire guinguette from 2:30 PM) and an initial event takes place on Friday, June 19th, at the Médiathèque.
- Where: Throughout the Orléans city center—Place du Martroi, Châtelet, Place de l'Étape, the area around the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix, and the Bourgogne district—as well as at Parc Louis-Pasteur, the MAM (10 rue Victor-Hugo), and the Cercil.
- Price: Free admission. Only the Les Violons d'Ingres concert at the MAM requires a reservation, as capacity is limited.
- Access and traffic: The pedestrian zone is closed to traffic from 6:00 PM to 3:00 AM, access bollards remain locked from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM, and parking is prohibited in the old town. We recommend using the TAO tram and bus—the tram runs normally until 10:00 PM—and keep an eye out for the musical tram on line A, featuring an onboard DJ at no extra charge.
- Terraces and bars: By special exemption, participating establishments may stay open until 3:00 AM on the night of June 21st to 22nd, with terrace service until 2:00 AM.
- Public spaces: Alcohol consumption is prohibited. The cathedral's sound and light show will not be projected that evening.
- Are you a musician? The City provides electrical connection points, provided you secure the power source and protect the cables. Speakers and sound walls are prohibited in public spaces, and sound levels are limited to 94 dB(A) and 104 dB(C). You can list your concert on the metropolitan calendar "On sort!".
Fête de la Musique in Orléans
Just like everywhere else in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique turns Orléans into an open-air stage every June 21st. Music takes over public spaces for free, from early evening until the middle of the night, featuring every genre for every audience.
A celebration across the entire city center
The Orléans edition is all about spontaneity: the City does not set up large stages or an official program, allowing musicians—both amateur and professional—to perform freely and voluntarily throughout the historic center from 6:00 PM to 2:00 AM. The heart of the festivities beats around the Place du Martroi and its equestrian statue of Joan of Arc, the Châtelet, the Place de l'Étape in front of the City Hall, the area around the Cathédrale Sainte-Croix, and the lively pedestrian streets of the Bourgogne district, where you can wander freely from one impromptu stage to the next.
Venues announcing their programs
Several institutions and bars complement this open stage. The Conservatoire sets up its guinguette at the Parc Louis-Pasteur for the entire afternoon until 8:30 PM; the MAM (Maison des Arts et de la Musique) hosts the end-of-season concert by the Les Violons d'Ingres symphony orchestra; the Cercil features a Klezmer and Gypsy music concert; and the Médiathèque kicks off the musical weekend on Friday with a live-coding evening. As for bars and terraces, La Vinithèque, the Dropkick Bar, La Capitainerie, the Quai du Roi, Chez Moi on Place du Châtelet, and Nachos will be serving up rock, electro, afrobeat, karaoke, and DJ sets until the early hours.
A mobile stage on the tram
The TAO network is putting a musical tram car into service on line A: a DJ will be mixing live on board at no extra cost, with stops announced at Hôpital de La Source, Gare d'Orléans, and Jules-Verne in both directions.
