About Music Festival in Périgueux
Every June 21, Périgueux celebrates the Fête de la Musique: local bands, amateur and semi-professional musicians play for free outdoors in the squares and streets of the historic center. Organized by the City of Périgueux, the evening is entirely free and mixes all styles, from variety to rock, from pop to electro, including French chanson.
The Fête de la Musique in Périgueux
As everywhere in France since 1982, the Fête de la Musique transforms the prefecture of Dordogne into an open-air stage every June 21. Music freely takes over public spaces in the early evening, in all genres and for all audiences, until late into the night.
A celebration in the heart of the historic center
Usually, the celebration unfolds in the hyper-center and historic center of Périgueux: the squares and streets of the medieval and Renaissance sector host open-air stages, in a friendly atmosphere. Local, amateur, and semi-professional groups perform there for free, mixing variety, pop, rock, rap, electronic music, and traditional music.
